(14,742 posts)Al Queda is a different group. The taliban was there during the russian occupation and lost a lot of lives in the drive to push them out.
I can't believe they would insist russia be involved in any agreement.
Btw, what does the US get out of this so-called agreement?

(6,181 posts)This is no way to run a government. Trump only has one goal outdo Obama while robbing the US treasury. Ok, maybe two goals.

(7,947 posts)... to be dealing with the murderous Taliban is difficult enough-- but to have Trump come in and insert Russia into the mix, because... why? Russia once, as the USSR, lost to the Taliban? (I know the Russia article says the Taliban asked for that too, but it sounds really Trumpian).
And then he's going to have to appease the Afghanistan president, who has been excluded from all this, and now there's this additional twist of Trump saying he cancelled some big Camp David meeting (which sounds like it was not really what he said it was), when in fact the Afghanistan president cancelled first?
What a tangle. I can't figure out what was supposed to happen, if anything, at Camp David, and what really happened. Was Trump actually going to bring the Taliban to be here on 9/11?
Or was that just a made-up thing, that the Taliban were going to fly here this week, and Trump was the one to cancel that too?

(23,097 posts)PUtin knows drumpf has to be hand held at all times because the high chaos and low intelligence leads him to act stupid and impulsively. Russians have to be there to remind him or all that will be revealed if he doesn't carry through with his orders to keep him in line.

(61,881 posts)Russia has its own relations with the Taliban and its own strategic goals for the region. Trump's eagerness to make a deal without securing America's interests and goals serves Russia well.

Is Afghanistan a US colony. a Russian colony or a joint colony of both?
