Trump's controversies show his presidency is really all about himself

https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/09/politics/donald-trump-politics-alabama-hurricane-afghanistan-business/index.html

It's not surprising to see a President seeking to maximize personal political advantage. But no modern President has taken a course that appears to make a conventional reading of America's national interest so subordinate to his own goals or done so little to separate the role of head of state from his personal impulses.

Trump's frenetic activity violates long-accepted guardrails governing the commander in chief's role. It also poses a fundamental question. What, or who exactly, is the Trump presidency -- and potentially four more years in office -- actually for?

Can Trump's actions in recent weeks honestly be said to be the work of a President selflessly toiling for "the forgotten men and women of our country" he lauded in his inaugural address while warning "a nation exists to serve its citizens?"

Or are they offering Democrats a potentially powerful and so far untapped election argument that Trump is really only interested in himself, burnishing his ego and adding to his wealth while forgetting the plight and dreams of most Americans?

the few thousand from a flight crew staying at his resort seems small, but compare it to the trump university scamming a few thousand from desperate students. he opened a new corporation to sell his internet merch.

if trump is a billionaire, these small time scams just prove that he can not help himself. I have little doubt that he would pick up a nickel on the street.

Pence, or an aide to pick it up for him. Fat bastard can not bend down. He is what he has always been, completely fascinated with himself. He honestly sees himself as he described himself "young and vibrant". I wonder who installed circus mirrors at the WH? Must be the type that makes a person look slimmer. He certainly does not see what the rest of us see, that's for sure. He is the very worst president EVER. A worldwide laughingstock. Thanks Putin and the gop for putting him in the WH.

the kind of president that could only have been chosen by the kind of people who want to "drown America in the bathtub."

"I don’t want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub." grover norquist

much influence, considering he was NOT an elected official. For some strange reason he had the gop all sign a "no new taxes" pledge, and kept them in control. Why, I wonder?

for the corrupt Koch brothers. What a messed up government we have. I wonder if Nordquist ever shaved since he vanished from the public eye?
