Sweden rejects 'TRUMP' vanity plate, calling request offensive
Swedish authorities reportedly denied a request for a vanity license plate reading "Trump," claiming it violated motor vehicle department rules against "offensive" phrases.
The story was first reported by Sweden's Aftonbladet tabloid, which said the request was made by a man who said he "was drunk and thought it was fun to apply" for the plate bearing the U.S. president's name since his car is American, according to the AP. The agency told the man, identified as Marcus Saaf, that the ruling couldn't be appealed.
Vanity plates mocking Trump were among the 53 tags rejected by Washington, D.C., officials last year, Washingtonian magazine reported in June.
Requests from D.C. drivers seeking plates that said “45SHOLE,” “DUMP45” and “TRE45SON” were reportedly turned down.
