I know it's raw story...but still! Who gets the "snow machines"???
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palins husband Todd filed for divorce after 31 years, according to blogger Craig Medred, who discovered the court filings.
His lawyers filed to dissolve the marriage on Friday, saying the couple has incompatibility of temperament between the parties such that they find it impossible to live together as husband and wife.
The family has had a slew of legal battles and suffered from scandals since Sen. John McCains campaign plucked the former governor out of obscurity to run as his vice president in 2008.
The couples eldest son has suffered considerable legal trouble after returning from serving overseas. Their daughter has become impregnated twice outside of the sanctity of marriage, while advocating abstinence-only lifestyle outside of marriage.

(36,841 posts)Ive been asked countless times over the last couple days to weigh in on the Palins drunken rumpus that has now dominated the national news cycle. Ive been begged. BEGGED. You of all people! Ive been waiting! Dont let us down!
Honestly, I would rather be rolled in French fry grease, sprinkled with sea salt and fed to the ravens. It may be the same reason I disdain tabloids, and rubbernecking accidents. But because I love you I will weigh in, in whatever manner there is left to weigh in on the Hindenburg that is the Palin family.
I knew as soon as I read Amanda Coynes original piece, I knew what was going to happen. Ive lived the Palin news cycle more times than I care to remember. And so I watched from the sidelines as the story went from local blog, to local blog, to news website, to a national story. The pattern has always been the same three days from first report to national headline. Its like dropping a gallon of milk and watching the unstoppable lake spread across the kitchen.
When I read the details, I found myself feeling strangely unsurprised. But arent we all, deep down, utterly unshocked? We may think were surprised; it may feel like we should be surprised, but we know already about Sarah and Todds screaming arguments, the dented refrigerator from the hurling of canned food. We have seen what happens to people, especially kids, who are rewarded with fame and riches despite having done nothing to earn them. We see everywhere in the tabloids, and gossip columns, and celebrity magazines those who are fueled by high-octane blend of narcissism, entitlement, and idiocy. This was bound to happen. If you subscribe to the theory that everything that has happened has created exactly the circumstances of the present moment, it was destiny.

(40,206 posts)I read a book, I can't remember which one or who wrote it, but it was about the election. Todd Palin came off as a rather decent guy. He tried to take care of his kids, cook them dinner, do their laundry, etc, whenever he was home. He was kind of the Mr. Mom because Sarah Palin was just absent and removed. I remember thinking how sad it was, especially how it said the he was the parent that had bonded with Trig and was his main caretaker.

(6,991 posts)My siblings and I were already adults, but it was still very difficult for us. My Father had an extended affair, a double life, and there were new children born to his paramour before the divorce.
That said, ridiculing Sara Palin's ongoing misfortune seems like punching down. She has no power. Sure, she mocked us and kicked us when we were down, but I have no energy or desire to do the same to her.
