Trump says U.S. may extend protected status for Bahamas immigrants after Dorian
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday his administration is talking to a lot of people about possibly extending temporary protected status, granted to people who cannot safely return to their countries, to immigrants from the hurricane-hit Bahamas.
Trump, talking to reporters at the White House, said, however, that the United States must make sure immigrants from the Bahamas are properly documented.
A growing number of lawmakers are pushing the White House to suspend visa requirements to help reunite Bahamians stranded by Hurricane Dorians destruction with their U.S. relatives.
Trumps administration has sought to severely restrict legal and illegal immigration. On Monday, acting Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Mark Morgan told reporters the agency would work to vet all immigrants from the Bahamas for possible threats to national security.

(50,237 posts)1. How can a person fleeing with the clothes on their backs become "properly documented" in a short
period of time? They can't. Don's just spewing garbage out of his mouth to hear himself speak. Besides, President Miller would never allow it.

exactly. I want to see his slimy self to be out in the spotlight.

(63,803 posts)2. Some Bahamians
have family members in Florida, they just want to sigh a breath of relief, that's not saying they want to stay in the US. They have been in a ordeal, Puerto Ricans were too. Migrants too have been going through hell. A lot of people are suffering in the world and this fucking regime does not care.
