It was a serious reflection of how powerfully he sees himself. It wasn't a threat. but it was a fact, in his own mind.
I think it is hard for a some people to realize how nutzo he is, because in public, he has a practiced persona of smiles and soft voice, and even when he says repugnant things, he does so in a an even tone.

I would love to see his furniture throwing screaming tirades, hopefully someone will eventually leak a tape of behind closed doors moments.

Being a fake president is sorely testing his defense mechanisms, they are not holding up well under so much scrutiny, which is a good thing.
