So Mecklenberg saw a 34% dropoff in ballots cast and union 31%. The election total was down 34%. So more or less 1/3 of the people that voted in 2018 didn't show up for the special election but both parties saw about the same dropoff. Bishop did about 1% better in his stronghold and McCready 1% better in his.
McCready needed a stronger turnout in Mecklenberg which he didn't get. In essence the vote rigging scandal didn't move anyone to our side and bishop actually did better seemingly siphoning off about 1% of the third party voters over to his camp.
Very frustrating
. To get this close to a solid red district but come up just a little short again.

(29,322 posts)I live in Arizona so it doesn't matter but most people aren't political junkies like DU users. It is not uncommon for special elections to have lower turnout than a general election.
