NC Republicans hold surprise budget-vote as Democrats are out of town for 9-11 ceremony.

https://www.rawstory.com/2019/09/watch-lawmaker-erupts-at-nc-gop-for-jamming-through-budget-vote-while-nc-dems-were-attending-9-11-memorial/

North Carolina Democratic House Whip Deb Butler on Wednesday reacted with fury after the state Republican Party held a surprise vote to override a budget veto while many state Democratic lawmakers were attending 9/11 memorial services.

The North Carolina GOP held the vote despite the fact that nearly half of the state’s lawmakers in the House were absent on Wednesday morning. According to Slate’s Mark Joseph Stern, many of the lawmakers were absent because they were attending a ceremony commemorating the victims of the terrorist attacks that struck America on September 11th, 2001.

I despise the GOP on every level. They have no honor or integrity on any level.

They absolutely remember it and apparently see it only in terms of what they can get out of it.

It's kind of astonishing that they're so deep into their pit of "genius" that they didn't even see what kind of blowback they're going to get for pulling this kind of stunt. But then again, their "never forget 9/11" republican supporters are probably cheering them on, because "owning the libs" has apparently completely eclipsed "owning the terrorists".

They are one vote shy of the required majority IF all Democrats are present for the vote. If just two are away from the chamber when the vote is held... the same thing can happen.

Vote requirements (e.g., "60% to override a veto" ) are based on the proportion of those present... but some number smaller than the total number members constitutes a "quorum" with the authority to conduct business.

But then, it's North Carolina and the attack happened in New York.
Why would any republicans in the NC legislature give a shit?
