Beyond perpetuating Muslim conspiracy theories, Trump once claimed he himself pulled 9/11 victims out of rubbleSeptember 11th is the most solemn day on the U.S. calendar. The terrorist attacks that left nearly 3,000 people dead 18 years ago are still fresh in the minds of many, and no occasion calls for a greater show of reverence and respect, especially from the nations commander-in-chief. President Trump commemorated the fallen Wednesday by tweeting a picture of himself and Melania.

The president quickly moved on to bashing recent ABC/Washington Post 2020 polling by showing his popularity floundering among several key demographics, and trailing most of the leading Democratic candidates in head-to-head matchups. If it werent for the never ending Fake News about me, and with all that I have done (more than any other President in the first 2 1/2 years!), I would be leading the Partners of the LameStream Media by 20 points, he wrote. Sorry, but true!
Trump positioning himself as a victim on 9/11 is nothing new. In 2018, he began the day by watching a DVRd episode of Lou Dobbs Tonight and tweeting about the Russia investigation.

Trumps relationship with 9/11 has always been curious, if not outright disrespectful. As a born-and-bred New Yorker whose identity is closely tied to the city, one would think he would make a point of showing the utmost respect for those who lost their lives, but as is the case with Trumps relationship to just about anything, he hasnt been able to resist making it about himself whenever possible. During an interview with Bloomberg not even two weeks ago, the president referenced George W. Bush speaking through a bullhorn at ground zero as an annoying blip preventing Trumps own popularity among Republicans from being the highest ever. The advantage we have is I am actually a very popular president, which people dont like to say, you know, Trump said. In fact, I guess the Republican poll came out, theres one at 92 and one at 93 and one at 90, and theyre the highest numbers that have ever been, with the exception of a tiny period of time with a bullhorn. But that period lasted for about a week.

(63,221 posts)Not a single redeeming quality. When he dies, they are going to have to build a high wall around his grave with razor ribbon at the top because so many people will want to piss on it (or worse). I wonder if he realizes how much he is truly despised.

(11,730 posts)Even before he started running for president it was well known that he lacked empathy and was big into self promotion and self-aggrandizement. While he was running, all of the information about his "press secretary" John Miller (Trump himself) who would call radio stations to brag about Trump. We had the birther thing, the 911 "Arabs dancing on the roof" Trump has consistently been an asshole ALL of his life. People who are still surprised by this or who are expecting him to "rise to the occasion" are insane.
