"Alaska swimmer's win reinstated after swimsuit controversy":

An Alaska high school swimmer’s win has been reinstated after she was initially disqualified over the fit of her team-issued bathing suit, officials said.

High school swimmer DQ’d because ref saw ‘butt cheek touching butt cheek’
The Anchorage School District said Tuesday the decision to disqualify the 17-year-old girl, whose bathing suit apparently revealed too much of her buttocks, was “heavy-handed and unnecessary,” the Anchorage Daily News reported.

The teen’s win on Friday was thrown out by a referee who ruled that the suit “was so far up I could see butt cheek touching butt cheek.”

In a written statement, school officials slammed the Alaska School Activities Association for making the call “based solely on how a standard, school-issued uniform happened to fit the shape of her body.”

There had been a male parent instigating some of this against the swimmer
The male parent had even gone as far as taking pictures of the girl and her backside in the suit in what he felt was provocative, regardless of the fact that she’s under age and what he was doing could be classified as pedophilia and child pornography
I still think he should be prosecuted for that

She also had went after Brecklyn Willis' younger sister, Dreamer Kowatch, who is potentially the fastest swimmer Alaska has ever produced, before.

They have four other sisters

Tatumn (the oldest), Harmony, Legend, and Sparrow

They already had a story about them a couple years ago (about a hedgehog, lolol)

her school approved swimsuit rode up her butt?

Good grief, when I was teen I was yanking my swimsuit down over my butt all the time. As a curvy girl it was difficult to get swimsuits that fit both my top and bottom properly.

Some people seriously have issues and need to pull the stick out of their backsides.

Sorry, that isn't enough. The person responsible for the initial ruling should be removed from any contact with scholastic swimming. This child could easily be scarred for life. What does that bastard care? Not a drop. The child is mixed race.

It's an assumption, sure, but there's nothing in the article that indicates her political leaning one way or the other. But the article does state that the referee was female, and several people here have pointed it out, and yet the assumption (that the ref was male) keeps appearing in responses.

Policing Black bodies, especially those of Black girls is still out of control. The disqualification was simply the most glaring example of a system set up to fail Black children no matter what.

like not allow people to be disqualified because of how standard issue clothing fits a person's nonstandard body, since everyone is unique.

And I swam competitively back in high school. Swimsuits are one item that people really should not be required to wear the school issued version if it is going to be a problem. There are different designs of athletic swimwear out there that are less likely to ride up. I chose to wear a more modest one instead of the official school one because of a similar issue, and I'm male. This was back in the 90s. It would be more of a problem now as schools have gotten more diverse. There are people who simply feel cold in the water or have religious beliefs requiring different designs.
