(62,444 posts)He expects the insurance company to accept driving in excess of the speed limit as safe driving. Because he is so much smarter than statistics.
His channel name? superspeedersrob. Lol, yeah, Super Speeders Rob wants a discount on his car insurance. They should assess a surcharge for his user name.
His thesis is fundamentally dumb to the bone: insurance companies are incentivizing unsafe driving, and penalizing safe driving, by using the wrong metrics. Yeah, sure thing nitwit, and the statisticians whose job it is to turn a profit for the insurance company dont notice the negative ROI of the trackers. What a moron.

Also, there's a difference between tracking a vehicle and driving a Chevy Volt on the streets.
But, alas, I think I've found the first person who never speeds, hard stops or launches at a light.
Then again, there is that whole "Great Driving" notices for each trip taken, until the test period is over, then getting pinched as an unsafe driver. Why wouldn't the app flag that from the first event, instead of misleading the driver that they are driving fine?

(35,151 posts)you should drive 70? Last winter I was crossing the Skyway Bridge at Tampa bay matching the other cars and realized I was
going 90 MPH, at 70 I would have been rear-ended.

(32,532 posts)I drive about 10 mph below the speed limit and have never been rear ended. One time I pulled into a rest area and a guy came up and asked if I knew what the speed limit was. I told him I did and asked him if he knew what the speed minimum was and he did not.
Does not make any difference what speed you drive, 20 over or 20 under, anyone that drives slower than you is an idiot and anyone that drives faster than you is a maniac.
But that's just me.

(35,151 posts)motorcycle. They have billboards in Florida minimum speed 45 mph $500 fine. The numbers may not be correct but why would they have a billboard warning you not to drive too slow if it is not a hazard? I don't recall signs warning of speed. The OHP usually allows 10% over the speed limit. So if it is 70 keep it below 77.

(16,178 posts)A failure to yield ticket may result if you pull in front of someone without sufficient distance to accelerate from them, and brake checking can get you an aggressive driving ticket/arrest even if rear ended.

(35,151 posts)damage. I had a $500 deductible so the insurance only paid out $2500. Last month I got my bill and they doubled all the rates on that vehicle. I shopped around on line to a couple other insurance companies and their offer was within a few dollars of my current insurance carrier. I have one f--g accident in 50 years so apparently I am a high risk now. Insurance companies suck.

(32,606 posts)On a single trip across IA on I80 they had me hard breaking approx 40+ times. According to the map they provided, I was driving 80 down the main st of a small town, and twice on an interstate exit ramp.
I dont know anyone still walking around exhanging O2 that drives 80 on an interstate ramp, or isnt in jail for driving 80 thru a small town with 30mph speed limit
