KFC boss gives up on healthy fast food after menu flopped because 'customers hated it'
I get it. When I go to KFC I want extra crispy, biscuits with butter, and a large coke to cut the grease. Dont go often, but when I do, I want my comfort food.
++++++++++ https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/9918453/kfc-boss-gave-up-on-healthy-fast-food/ KFC planned to start selling baked and grilled meals as an alternative to deep-fried meals - but it has now abandoned the project The firm splashed out £8 million installing special ovens across its branches in a bid to offer healthier alternatives to its famous battered birds. But poor sales scuppered the launches of “non-fried” products, forcing chiefs to go back to the drawing board. A senior KFC executive admitted it had to abandon the plans after poor sales of three new items - the Brazer grilled chicken sandwich launched in 2011, the Rancher sandwich in 2012 and a pulled chicken product launched in 2015. Jenny Packwood, head of brand engagement at KFC UK and Ireland, made the comments at a talk on food “reformulation”. Officials want calories in popular meals - such as pizzas and burgers - slashed by 20 per cent in a bid to tackle the nation’s bulging waistlines. But speaking at Public Health England’s annual conference, Ms Packwood said: “It didn’t go brilliantly well. We tried and we failed to launch a non-fried product. “We were unable to sustain sales. They were just not selling. “It’s no good launching a product which looks good nutritionally but then nobody buys. “It doesn’t improve the health of the nation and in terms of sustainability it is a disaster

2. Do what you do best.
If you want a burger you don't go to KFC. If you want so-called "healthy food" you don't go to KFC. Find your niche and do it well and you will do well.

3. I'm with you on that, Kilgore!
If I'm trying to be healthy, I dont go there.
I'm more of a Popeye's guy theae days, but the same principle applies! Give that butter-drenched biscuit, mashed taters and spicy chicken! |

Popeyes spicy strips, beans and a butter biscuit is heavenly. But a 3 piece KFC Big Box meal is devine.
How does one decide???? |

6. I really like both...
But where I live, the KFCs are older and kind of run down. Sometimes, the chicken isnt cooked well...too greasy. So, it's sort of hit and miss.
At my nearby Popeye's, its pretty, nice and clean and chixken is always cooked to perfection. If I had well-cooked chicken in front of me and had to choose one, it wouldnt be an easy choice! Another factor that helps Popeye's with me...Coca Cola products. I like a good, cold Diet Coke with my chicken. |

5. Healthy fast food is rare...
Subway probably does it best. That being said go to the best steak house in town and they will have a very nice salad bar.
