It's probably a bit of both, and he's hoping someone takes his gun so he can cap them with his CCW.

(9,904 posts)Heard this one last week, a 28 yr old son of a cousin on my wifes side of the family.
He enters a Wallys with his gun in his shoulder holster. With mom
Wally worker tells him the policy. He wont leave. Cops called. Cop talks to him
Allowed entry into store.
Weird right?

Good for Walmart.

(7,632 posts)But I was asking benld74 about the situation with their cousin's son and his experience of being allowed in after the cops came and talked with him.
Straw Man
(6,624 posts)... shoulder holsters are worn under a jacket, as concealed carry. Wal-Mart still allows that. Is it possible that the cop just told him he had to cover it up?

(2,231 posts)I got over 100 comments down without seeing a single one complaining that WalMart was wrong. EVERY comment I read either praised them, or was from someone outside the states who couldnt understand the concept of open carry and how dumb it is.

I mean, I get it: I went through that obnoxious stage myself...when I was six. It took several conversations (and getting my ass kicked a couple of times) to make me begin to think about other people. I'm just glad it started early for me; it's going to be a much harder slog for this guy.

(32,762 posts)I don't care if gun nuts want their metal binkies with them 24/7. The rest of us want to be in public in peace without wondering if that guy with a gun is going to start using it any second.
There is no "good guy with a gun" in produce, toys, or small appliances.

So VERY glad to see this fucker banned from Walmart. This is why, if you see someone carry a gun in to a business, you must report them, or call 911, and leave immediately. Businesses aren't going to stand for this very long.

(5,106 posts)We DON'T NEED assault weapons to protect ourselves unless we have reason to think that an entire army is going to break into our homes. I'm a female senior citizen who learned to shoot revolvers and rifles over the years just for the knowledge and practice. I used to disagree about hunting animals for sport and never have myself. It's not just guns, but trapping, etc if not necessary to eat. We used to have a freezer full of game birds which mostly went to waste when a former husband belonged to a hunting preserve club. But OK, I understand that there will always be hunting enthusiasts or those who just like to shoot. Fine. But ASSAULT weapons capable of killing dozens in seconds? What warped desire to own them is this? A compromise could be to limit ownership to licensed clubs to be used only on their grounds. Access to the general populace HAS TO BE STOPPED!

(5,106 posts)But my ex-hubby once actually brought part of a deer (skinned) to hack up in one of our bathtubs. This is a long story I have no desire to get into. An AK-47 or AR 15 would certainly have saved me that experience.
Beartracks

(6,624 posts)... it is possible to fire a single bullet from an AR or AK rifle: You just pull the trigger once and once only.

Civilian AR and AK rifles are not machine guns. They fire one round with each trigger pull. What you describe is a behavioral problem with the operator, not an inherent function of the firearm.
NickB79
(19,236 posts)Some states say you need to use smaller 5-round magazines or a bigger caliber barrel, but generally wherever a regular deer rifle is legal, an AR or AK is legal as well. And once you limit the magazine size to 5 rounds, they're no different than a regular deer rifle at that point. It's not like they're machine guns.

(31,261 posts)he endangers a lot of people. Does that guy realize that if he insists on walking through a Walmart packing, that the next mass shooter could just walk right into a store, because the mass shooter would be exercising his Second Amendment rights until he starts gunning people down?

(5,395 posts)that this was a 'good man with a gun' and if a shooting happens in a Walmart, it's because the 'good men' left their weapons home.
NRA and reality. Big gap between the two.
I notice that the idea of teachers packing heat hasn't gotten very far. Good!
I can walk into any store and pretty much guarantee no one is packing, and there won't be a sudden hail of lead.
But then, I don't live in a country with a misinterpreted second amendment.

(9,535 posts)It would be awesome to see a short-term spike in their sales as a giant middle finger to the gun nuts.
I still oppose their anti-labor policies and in the past they've done some negative environmental actions but got better on the latter, investigating heavily in solar for their stores.
Time to give the devil its due, temporarily.
