now. Crown Prince is not popular abroad. Iran has drones. There is no leader of the free world to stop the war in Yemen or ensure iran is in the family of nations. World oil supply cut by 6% today as drones hit 1/2 of saudi supply. But I wonder if big oil is happy?

Pompeo Blames Iran for Attack on Saudi Oil Supply

"SNIP.....
Yemens Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for drone attacks on two key oil installations deep inside Saudi Arabia on Saturday, facilities that process the vast majority of the countrys output and raising the risk of a disruption in world oil supplies, the New York Times reports.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blamed Iran, which backs the Houthis, calling it an unprecedented attack on the worlds energy supply and asserting, There is no evidence the attacks came from Yemen.
It was the single most audacious attack on Saudi Arabia that the Houthis have claimed since the kingdom intervened in Yemens war more than four years ago, devastating the impoverished country and creating the worlds worst humanitarian crisis.

(1,922 posts)Predator drones have been around since the early 90's. Autonomous guidance systems are available commercially. Even hobby level stuff is using GPS guidance systems for the return home functions.

(59,584 posts)On 5 December 2011, U.S. military sources confirmed that the remains of an RQ-170 had been captured by Iranian forces. Media reports indicated that various U.S. officials declined to confirm whether or not the drone in the video released by Iranian state television was authentic.[22] On 8 December 2011, a senior U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the Washington Post that the U.S. cannot be certain the drone shown was real because the U.S. does not have access to it, but also stated that "We have no indication that it was brought down by hostile fire."[16] A second senior U.S. military official said that a major question is how the drone could have remained "virtually intact," given the high altitude from which it is said to have crashed. U.S. Navy Captain John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesman, told a news conference on 8 December 2011 that Pentagon analysts were examining the video.[23] Both Kirby and fellow spokesman George Little would not comment further on whether the U.S. military believed the drone was the one missing, both did say that the missing drone had not been recovered.[23] Later that day, CBS reported that the US officials had confirmed in private the authenticity of the drone shown by the Iranians.[24]
On 6 December 2011, U.S. officials acknowledged that a drone crashed in or near Iranian airspace and that this belonged to the CIA and not to ISAF as was earlier stated. U.S. officials did not state that the drone shown on Iranian television was actually a real RQ-170 (which has been public knowledge since 2009),[25] although a former U.S. official confirmed that the drone shown on the Iranian state media was a U.S. RQ-170, used for surveillance of Tehran's nuclear facilities.

(581 posts)enough to make Trump wear diapers. This is why he probably fired Bolton. Bolton must have been in his face 10 times a day wanting a war with Iran.

(54,358 posts)All Iran has to do is give the Houthis the drones, tell them how to use them, and then say "what? We didn't do anything! We only told the Houthis to use the drones to peek at Saudi girls sunbathing nude or rooftops!"

(14,490 posts)No investigation completed, so no proof Iran had anything to do with it. Trump officials always blame Iran even before the fires are extinguished. We can also bet the Saudis will lie about it too.
Further, these "devices" may not be drones in the sense that we think of drones as being much like an unmanned aircraft with high-tech capabilities. They may just be like a simple guided model airplane with explosives on a suicide mission. They could simply launch a large group of them and play the odds that several will hit target. Cheap, simple, and very effective.
The attacks could also have been a combination of suicide drones, RPGs and/or missiles.
See photo of a homemade Houthi "drone" here.......

Just saying...take everything we read about this event with a grain of salt and a pound of skepticism. The full truth will probably never be known.
