throw dog food at us and tell us it's our FEMA rations like they did in 2005 after Katrina. He said "Yeah if they would eat it, it'd be less of Bama's tax dollars we'd have to send you."

Bama's tax dollars? (scoff) Alabama takes in more than it pays out in tax dollars, just like most of the former Confederacy. Ignorance doesn't become any group of people.
former9thward
(32,016 posts)or "most of the former Confederacy"? Do you object that the South has a large number of military retirees getting federal pensions and disability payments? What exactly would you stop to 'even' it up?
D.C. gets 4 times ($6.17) the federal money per dollar paid than AL ($1.61). Should DC be pared down first?
Mariana
(14,857 posts)It is true that many Repukes living in red states have the idea that their states are paying more to the federal government than they receive, when the reverse is true for almost all of them.
former9thward
(32,016 posts)Who is the "they"?
Mariana
(14,857 posts)Individuals, government agencies, etc, for whatever reason. Who did you think? And where did you get the idea that anyone posting on this thread wants any of it stopped? No one said ANYTHING like that.
And why does it matter who "they" is anyway? Remember that the post you responded to is about a Repuke hypocrite who didn't want any federal tax money from his state to be spent in another state, when his own state gets more money from the federal government than its residents pay.
former9thward
(32,016 posts)It hasn't happened so far in this thread but has happened in similar threads.
It's a well known fact that the Blue States subsidize the lazy, good-for-nothing Red State Leeches. http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021083531

(23,796 posts)So I'll thank you not to imply otherwise.
former9thward
(32,016 posts)So stop with the faux outrage. I distinctly said other threads where the subject of federal money have come up. And I posted one of dozens.
Bolo Boffin
(23,796 posts)Since I've never said anything of the sort, why are you asking me about such things at all?
Why don't you discuss the subject of the OP here instead of continuing this strange obsession with me?
Mariana
(14,857 posts)Somehow.
Funny, isn't it, how YOU'RE being attacked, but the asshole the OP is about, who said he'd like to throw dog food at hurricane victims, gets no mention at all. THAT isn't worthy of comment. YOUR post, though, is grounds for all this indignation.
Bolo Boffin
(23,796 posts)you would think former9thward could see what I was saying.
Oh, well. Thanks for trying to talk some reason to him or her.

(14,857 posts)at the individual Repuke hypocrite, if anything. There are Repuke hypocrites in every state. This one happens to live in Alabama. So what?
And I used to live in Mobile, went to middle school and high school there, and I liked it, for the most part. I still visit friends there every year or so. I am not anti-southern. I AM anti-Repuke hypocrite.
Edited to add: Are you seriously defending someone who says he would throw dog food to hurricane victims from another state so as to not spend government money to help them? Seriously? Because he lives in the South, you think it's unacceptable to point out his hypocrisy, in addition to his cruelty and stupidity? That's fucking sick.
former9thward
(32,016 posts)My posts have said nothing about the OP dog food crap and I was not responding to those comments whatsoever and you know it . Nice attempt to throw a strawman in there when you have nothing else to throw.
Bolo Boffin
(23,796 posts)Instead, what you've been doing is attacking me on a tangent. What I suggest is that you stop finding a way to attack me and start commenting on the OP.
Mariana
(14,857 posts)Speaking of strawmen. No one on this thread said or even implied any of the things you seem to be upset about. It's not nice, as you pointed out, to make shit up about what other people have posted, and then attack them for it.
former9thward
(32,016 posts)And accused the poster of saying it. Be specific. I won't hold my breath.

Maybe if you were here to discuss the subject instead of pursue your 9/11 Truth-fueled agenda with me, you would have figured that out.

I only try to remain polite to those whom I'm somehow linked to. If your have no link here, vent your spleen. You'll feel better and in some ways it's therapeutic.
Just a suggestion. I'm not sure if this is even still possible, or of the window has closed.

Red States Feed at Federal Trough, Blue States Supply the Feed
Monday, September 27, 2004
The Tax Foundation has released a fascinating report showing which states benefit from federal tax and spending policies, and which states foot the bill.
The report shows that of the 32 states (and the District of Columbia) that are "winners" -- receiving more in federal spending than they pay in federal taxes -- 76% are Red States that voted for George Bush in 2000. Indeed, 17 of the 20 (85%) states receiving the most federal spending per dollar of federal taxes paid are Red States. Here are the Top 10 states that feed at the federal trough (with Red States highlighted in bold):
