Supremacists outnumbered by counterprotesters, police at Dahlonega rally

Georgia

A rally in downtown Dahlonega organized by white supremacist activists wound down early Saturday amid high heat, a balky public address system and a confusing, at times contradictory, series of speakers.

The rally numbered somewhere between 35 and 50 self-described patriots on one side of the square, countered by three times that number of counterprotesters shouting from behind barricades on the other side. Both groups were outnumbered by 600 state and local law enforcement officers, many sweating out the afternoon heat in full riot gear.

“We know we are on the right side of history,” said rally organizer Chester Doles. “With the rise of socialism, American patriots are standing up.”Doles, a Lumpkin County resident, has spent a lifetime associated with various white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups, spending two stints in federal prison for crimes related to his activities. He is finishing out two years of probation from an assault in December 2016. Doles touted the event to the public as a rally to show support for President Donald Trump, but also promoted it on white supremacist internet outlets.

How many times you gotta lose before you wake up?
Well, no matter. Your head will always be on the right side of my boot.

They want a violent confrontation do not give it to them. Arm yourself with your cell phone camera if you accidentally encounter them.

As far as I am concerned I stay away. Nothing any of them can say would make me take their point of view. My home threshold marks the limits of my patience as a few relatives have found out. I most certainly keep away from their door step.

Someone needs to remind them that many young soldiers, Black, White, Hispanic and also of Asian descent, have died for our freedom and way of life. Such stupidity.

I grew up in mid-central Flaw'duh, among these "master racists." They have a completely fictional history set as their head-canon, and they reject anything that challenges it.

"I reject your reality and substitute my own" and "FAKE NEWS!!" aren't new to them; they're just currently more open--and blatant--about its application.

of Atlanta, and a lot of people retire around there.

Note that a paltry 35 to 50 white power creeps was all the surrounding counties produced, and some of the attendees came from farther away. I notice they kept this out of the pretty town square, but bizarre to think of people having to go through metal detectors in Dahlonega.

Meanwhile, most residents stayed away. That's how our nearby town responded 20 years back when a handful of KKK creeps insisted on holding an annual parade for a while. But in those days everyone knew not to come and let them parade through empty streets. We'd just moved there and were told no one went downtown that day and why. It worked. After about 3 or 4 years they gave up and left. Heard they consolidated with another small group, which was probably the Lumpkin County one.

This pretty much says it for most people:

“I don’t know what to think,” said Nicole Mullins of Gwinnett County, who had come to the area to pick apples. “It’s hard to believe.”
