September 15, 2019 at 7:14 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
The president of the United States is seriously, frighteningly, dangerously unstable. And hes getting worse by the day.
Such a person in the Oval Office can do serious damage.
What to do? We can vote him out of office in 14 months time. But he could end the world in seven and a half seconds.

(6,666 posts)The man has a long reputation for being so measured in his public statements. For him to step this far out is really significant.
As crazy as we think it must be in the White House, it has to be 100 times worse....

(110,950 posts)He believes it is like a reality TV show. There is a thread of truth in what Reich says, in my opinion. The problem is with the Republicans. If it was left to the Democrats, he would already be out of office. We are in midst of a crisis, in my opinion. The people must maintain control of their government or they will lose it.
The problem begins with division. Those that divide, for political purpose, create the friction upon our democracy. They are the culprit.

(18,964 posts)is built upon a foundation of lies..visions of American greatness, white superiority and conspiracy theories broadcast 24-7 over corporate owned media. The madman leading the charge is their perfect foil.
The "wizards" behind the curtain have an ideological vision of the future which can only be attained if they seize all the levers of political power, chief of which is the Supreme Court.
We progressives could never envision a political/economic force so dastardly that it would sink to the levels we are witnessing.
The next election will determine the fate of this great experiment in democracy.

(110,950 posts)...is his inability to not divide. At his political core, he is a "divider".
In my opinion, Democrats need to use the issue of "division" to defeat Donald Trump.
Because he cannot stop dividing the people. And each time he tweets or says something divisive, it should be pointed out to the public. It must be repetitious and it will be. Because Trump cannot help dividing our people. It is the worst thing that could happen to our people and they need to know when he is doing it.
I think, over three or four months, this is a strategy that could possibly work?

(3,514 posts)The Great Divider should be his new label. Every candidate, every pundit, every one of us should keep hammering this point. This has been his MO since day one; to divide and pit Americans against each other. He is only interested in appealing to his ever shrinking base so lets keep pointing that out!

(18,964 posts)Basically stated, "hate divides, call for commonality unites."
I was actually involved in a campaign in a small town that was based on this principle...the title of my campaign was "Community Unity"...I got 72% of the vote..

(110,950 posts)Most Americans understand that division is not good for our country at this time. They need to be shown where the division is coming from. He can't help himself. He will seek to divide if the whole world is watching.

(13,564 posts)Mueller, Wray, Coats, Comey all have told us UNDER OATH that the election WILL NOT be free and fair.
All it will take is botching several states and then referring those elections to SCOTUS for resolution.
Voila. So easy that Trump/GOP would be foolish not to go for it. And they behave as if it's in the bag already.
We must stop this before the election. MUST. And we must do the three things necessary for a fair and free election as well.

(498 posts)It's just funny when things by random person #5 are portrayed as the real call to sanity, finally.
When most of us already knew he was "seriously, frighteningly, dangerously unstable" before he was even elected.
And as most of us have realized it just doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter how many people point out that he's insane.
One man holds the key to sanity and it's turtle.
When this is over, assuming sanity does return, congress needs to ensure that never again can the senate majority leader be allowed to hold the entire nation hostage to his whim.
It really isn't about trump, he's transient.
It's turtle who has held all the power once we took the house.

(9,880 posts)For me at least, my level of concern grew as each person I thought to be somewhat of a backstop left the administration: McMaster, Mattis, Coats and many experienced career employees not at the top of the food chain, only to be replaced by incompetent, corrupt puppets willing to do whatever Trump tells them to do, legal or not. AG Barr is right at the top of the list of the most corrupt individuals ever to serve in that role.
The fact that the Air Force was willing to follow Trumps suggestions to refuel at a small airport near his golf resort in Scotland and even stay there in clear violation of the emoluments clause of the US Constitution they swore to uphold became more frightening because it indicates that the military will ignore the law to follow orders issued by this very unstable person. In my view, the officer who approved these actions should face a court martial for approving this deal.
Whats frightening is that there are very few brakes left on the runaway train that is Trump. Democrats are being portrayed by the media as fumbling, bumbling incompetents who cant agree about anything. Republicans are willing, and some eager, to ignore any crimes Trump commits so long as they can stay in power and keep their rich donors happy. The Supreme Court is complicit in allowing Trump to come running to them to overturn federal appeals court rulings he doesn't like. I heard a segment on NPR yesterday that Trump has already asked the SC for stays over 30 times whereas the Bush and Obama administrations combined asked for only 8. This last round on asylum seekers having to first seek asylum in anther country is a good example of the SC putting its thumb on the scale for Trump. I always thought the idea behind new policies was to keep them from going into effect until it was proved that no harm would be caused. Instead the SC put the policy into effect with no consideration of potential harm while the case makes its way through the appeals courts. I have no faith whatsoever in the federal legal systemmeaning the DOJ and the SCto do the right thing anymore. And that is truly frightening!

(7,733 posts)They thought the election of Barack Obama was the arrival of the anti-Christ and the final sign that the end was coming. Then their lord would use his golden knife and cut the sky open and reach down and save all the believers.
When that didnt happen they decided they would be sure to get the anti-Christ in this time and gave us trump. The more calamitous, the better, its all in the plan.
Trump knows this and he will milk the believers, and they will let him. Because, in their minds, sometimes you may embrace evil if that evil delivers the goods.

There is much to fear from this whole clown parade, not just the president.
