With the swipe of a pen Trump ended the nuclear agreement with Iran. Not because Iran broke the agreement, because Israel wanted Trump to break the agreement. Because Obama made the agreement.
I am not a fan of Iran, never have been. This time they are not at fault, Trump is.
With the swipe of a pen Trump ruined years of work by Obama, Kerry, our allies and Iran. He ruined our good name. He made it impossible for Iran to ever make a deal with us again.
Trump gave Iran two choices, Give Trump everything he wants, ( not going to happen) or do everything in their power to defend themselves from a country that lied to them and then attacked their economy with sanctions. This dumb decision by Trump could drive Iran into getting the bomb. From where they sit they must be thinking this is the only way we can protect ourselves.
If Iran does start building a bomb, then what will Israel and Trump do, bomb them? What comes after that?
This stupid decision by Trump is the kind of decision that can lead to things spinning out of control with no way to stop it.
The moment Trump was elected I predicted he would push the world into chaos. The decision to break our word and end the nuclear deal has the potential to do just that.

(13,571 posts)So if you want to see what comes after that, in any area, look to Putin's intent.
Destruction of the Western Alliance, chaos in America, repudiation of climate protections......
All as planned. A dystopian destruction of democracy everywhere.

(9,426 posts)tRump - impeachment will be delayed. Bib - recall election may be delayed. Vlad - his re-election fraud will be dropped. So, what if a few million people are destroyed during this? I still think the US is behind this drone strike. We can not believe anything from this administration.

(33,449 posts)The Dems will delay impeachment because of a drone strike on an oil refinery in SA?
Who launched the drone strike for Trump? The Deep State? The CIA? QAnon? Putin?
Conspiracies everywhere!

The spice must flow, as Frank Herbert wrote. Iran can and would block the Strait of Hormuz almost immediately.

(9,500 posts)They will get more $$$ per barrel, with the added hope that they could assume greater control of Iran's oil.
The US can persist on domestic production, and Europe would have to rely more heavily on Russia if oil from the Saudi fields could not be transported.
It's the rest of the economy that would suffer from the increased costs due to oil prices.

(33,449 posts)Overthrow the Theocratic government and install a puppet? In a mountainous country of 82 million that's been calling us the devil for 40 years?
There's a limit to Trump's saber rattling, and we're about to see it. Maybe the Israelis get the OK to shoot some Revolutionary Guard installations, or maybe take out a refinery in retaliation, but the oil must flow. Always.

If there is ONE job on Earth that it would be supremely unwise to gamble with by installing someone with no demonstrated experience, understanding, moral or intellectual fitness for the job, that job is President of the United States.

(22,191 posts)game. I wouldn't be surprised at how many of them we keep hearing about now, that in hindsight, say 'YIKES' and regret their votes. Bring on board w/ the rest of us, and lets save the country together from scumbags like this. The only really big thing rump's done is line his pockets w/ tax cuts.
Oh, and by the way, they finally said something about a tax cut for us/middle class!! I thought (1) during the last election cycle that rump was trying to push a tax cut for the middle class (sure forgot all about that one, eh, rump?). rump butt has been caught w/ his pants down (gross!) and his true intelligence has been revealed to the US public. No wonder he is hiding his tax returns ... broke, paying out the wazoo for interest on loans (what little he's been able to scrap up), in short, a crook.
Scarsdale
(9,426 posts)to working class? The treasury is draining FAST from the tax cuts for the rich, the tRump family, the useless "acting secretaries" of all the government agencies. They HAVE to keep the gullible paying taxes to fund their lifestyle and tax breaks. Ivanka got $100 MILLION to fly around the world promoting business for women. What advice does she give for that amount of money? Hire sweatshop employees everywhere, like she does?

and yes, what we have done to our own country is a tragedy, but what we have done to the world is a high crime.
we are going to need a truth and reconciliation commission to air out all the crimes, and set the record straight.

(253 posts)The Iran Nuclear Deal was perhaps the most important and valuable American diplomatic achievement since the Truman Administration (Think of Nato Treaty, think of The iMarshall Plan).
Now Trump has destroyed the Iran Deal and hes doing everything he can to dismantle Nato.
There must be some way to treat these evil works of Trump as IMPEACHABLE offenses.

(2,412 posts)Iran does have a point that it is a large country with many resources and it seeks to have a sphere of influence in its own region, just as we do in Latin America. I dont have a problems with that.
I urge everyone here to visit Iran and see for yourself the cradle of civilization and its incredible cultural offerings. We have been taught by Neocons to view Iran as an enemy but are they really? In my city we are working on building a sister city relationship with Iran and we have several active Peace Corps Returnees.

(66,503 posts)Not their leadership, by any means. But their people. And their culture, which stretches back 3,000 years.
Half the country is under the age of thirty. They have no memory of the Islamic Revolution of 1979. Their young people love Western pop culture, the music, movies, clothing, etc. They've discovered they can enjoy all of these things and still be devout, observant Muslims.
My thing is: why aren't we doing everything we can to make them our ally again? Bill Clinton and Barack Obama made enormous strides in that direction, only to have George W. "Axis Of Evil" Bush and Donald "Reverse Everything That Obama Did" Trump come along.
Before we can even think about changing the leadership in Iran, we need to change the leadership in Israel.
yellowdogintexas
(22,288 posts)and the women had much more freedom than other Islamic nations. It was very sad to watch it become a theocracy. I agree things are improving over there, and a predominately young population is going to be a key element.
Having a son in law who is Kurdish/Persian has taught me much about Iran and the culture. I do not see it as it seemed to be in the days of the revolution.
I would love to visit it with his family.
My new grandaughter hears Kurdish in her ear from her other grandmother, English from us and a mix from her aunts. My son in law hasn't decided but he wants her to learn Farsi.

(4,341 posts)During the Shah of Iran there were a lot of students from Iran in the USA, and like anyone else in the World, they are just like us, they were a lot of fun to be with. Of course they have their cultural differences with us, and they have their religion, that is what diversity is all about, they were good friends and lovely people.
In USA we have the problem where we cannot see through our differences in color of our skin, religion, culture, we pretend that everyone must think like us instead of enjoying and learning from our differences. It is an incredible shame, and it is even sadder that most people in the USA fail to see that all the hate is fomented by politicians, republicans for the most part, because when they don't have a constructive agenda they resort to hate and lies, so here we are.
They sat me with two Iranian girls who were good friends of mine during the graduation ceremony, one of them opened her gown and took out a small bottle of wine, we all took sips from it. If no American can identify with that naughty action I don't know what else. She was so lovely and lively, and I have to say she was very beautiful as well.
I always think about how easy it is to get along when we don't hate, how easy it is to love when we look past our differences, when we take the time to appreciate our differences, we don't have to be converted, and believe it or not, most other cultures are not trying to convert anyone, but it is good to learn from them, there is good in us all so lets learn, lets open our minds.
BigmanPigman
(51,648 posts)and that is why he made Parts Unknown. Americans are so ignorant and close minded when it comes to other cultures. He wanted to "enlighten" people and show us that we are all the same when you think about it.

(4,341 posts)And now the administration seems to be trying to find, or make up an excuse to go to war against Iran. Make no mistake, Iran is not what Iraq was at the time, Iraq had no way to defend itself, there were no WMDs, that was a lie, they no longer had a military infrastructure because that was dismantled during Bill Clinton's tenure as President, and we are still there, that invasion was never won, but Iran is equipped to fight, the destruction a war with Iran would bring to the World we have never seen. Whether you are still conned by the conman in the Oval office or not, as a citizen of the World you must let people, politicians know you are against a war with Iran, it will not serve anyone well, it will bring a worldwide massacre like nothing we have seen in our World history. The idiot in the White House may think this is a game, but this is serious business the conman has no idea of consequences because in all his inadequacies, and there are too many, the lack of understanding that actions have consequences is his most dangerous character flaw. He is such a narcissist that he will start a war to avoid impeachment while never giving a thought on the consequences, its all about him.
