Kris Kristofferson Does Not Have Alzheimer's

He was misdiagnosed and actually has Lyme's disease

“From 2004 to 2015 suffered from what was finally diagnosed as Lyme disease, although it was initially and incorrectly thought to be early onset Alzheimer's disease. It is unclear how Kristofferson contracted Lyme disease but it is suspected that he caught it while filming a movie in the remote woods of Vermont in 2002. His wife credits the successful diagnosis and recovery to getting second opinions when dealing with auto-immune and Alzheimer-type diagnoses.”

5. I wish that were true. It's the mantra of the Infectious Disease Society of America.

But in reality, Lyme (and the myriad of co-infections that travel with it) are incredibly tenacious bugs. I believe we can do things to keep it at bay, but at present there is no actual cure. The tests, the protocols, and the attitude toward patients have been horribly corrupted and politicized, chiefly by the IDSA. They have defined the tests to show that almost nobody has the infection. But if you simply put living blood under a microscope, a huge number of people find they have active Lyme spirochetes (and other nasties) swimming around in their blood, drilling into their red cells, and making life hell. Hit 'em with powerful antibiotics and they just curl up in a biofilm and hide. They come right back.

I had a tick borne disease similar to Lyme for over 3 years before my doc became suspicious and ran more blood work. I had anaplasmosis (formerly wrongly called ehrlichiosis) from a tick bite. Same symptoms as Lyme, but does not cause a bullseye when the bite occurs. I actually HAD the fricking tick! Now my doc says, no matter what, they start med right away! I was cured with doxycycline.

The downside is that some of the damage cannot be reversed. My left shoulder is still hinky. But I am thrilled for Kris Kristofferson and his family!
