(21,566 posts)so it takes two days for gas from the refinery to make it to your station?

(7,809 posts)charge for what replacement product will cost them, not for what the gasoline they are currently selling cost. That would explain it.
For the first time in my life, I filled the tank one day before prices went up. I'm usually refilling after they raise prices.

(14,857 posts)They use almost all of the the money from selling this truckload to pay for the next truckload. If they're short (because their supplier jacked the price up), there won't be any delivery.

(959 posts)while I don't know how they determine gas prices, I do know it's not based off the truckload they currently have.
I was supposed to drive past a few stations within a given distance of my store and record the prices. Then I popped them into a store computer system that emailed it. I would get an email back to tell me what price to raise/lower our gas. That was done 2-3 times a day

(32,005 posts)U.S. oil refineries are built to require a steady dose of medium and heavy grades of crude. Saudi Arabia's crude is the perfect match. U.S. shale oil is a light blend which does not fit well with refineries that are decades old.

(2,750 posts)I long for a day when we can exchange dead batteries instead of fueling up at a highway station.
It's such a cool idea, too. Your battery gauge is reading low? Pull off the highway and exchange it for one that is recharged.
Ding ding... Back on the highway
The technology is there I would think?
