General Discussion

Did our guys actually think he was going to cooperate?
Too much shuffling and stuttering on our side.
I am rooting for us and I saw it as us looking pretty foolish.
Now I am going to say something I really have been reluctant to say. Is Nadler up to the task of his chairmanship? I have been kinda hoping I was wrong in my gut feeling, but it seemed obvious to me today. He's lost a step or two OR is over his head, professionally.

(21,738 posts)Surprising that with so many politicians with legal expertise questioning of these witnesses is so ineffectual.

(33,643 posts)Democrats ... clearly are not. It's about seniority and who owes who what, etc.
Our important committees have too many people who talk slow and think slow. It's a big disadvantage in this type of setting.

(51,308 posts)But a friend came over and was watching while I went shopping.
What I saw before I changed the channel when I came back was very disappointing to say the least. Completely agree with your OP.
Theyre laughing at us. Smh.

I wouldn't have let anything stop me. Just not in the right frame of mind to handle the disappointment I've been reading about.

(58,785 posts)to accomplish and had informed expectations, you would not be disappointed now. This is a step.
By the way, always read primary sources as much as possible. Dont depend on people who often have different agendas to tell you what pols say or mean. Studies show that quotes and interpretations are incorrect and often just plain lying shockingly often.
Your charming friends on these talkshows arent friends at all a good part of the time.

(58,785 posts)unaffected by media groupthink. Sorry, but that's so rare here, Stinky. Anyway, I was posting for people in general who like me have been watching and have little understanding of what's happening but who, unlike me, believe they know what to think. I understand the MSM all too well, but I know I do not know enough to evaluate this process.
So distracting that the Republicans chose to use their time acting out having to be part of a ridiculous circus, which seems to have had quite an effect. Never say the Republicans have no use for women; they did yeoman duty today dutifully smirking, ostentatiously ignoring, chatting with neighbors, checking their phones while the cameras were running.
But you should at least point out that Nadler knew enough to bring in a professional litigator after the Republicans ran out their close to 5 hours of time trying to stop it. In the interest of fairness? And maybe look into what happened then. No, I'll confess: Lewandowski didn't leap up and say, "Yes, I did it! I did it and I'm glad! I'd do it again." But it's worth noting anyway, which is why it was done -- for others t note.

(58,785 posts)I normally agree with your posts, and so what if we disagree on this one. Remember how we passed tests in school, though. It was important to know we were supposed to reject any answer with an absolute in it. They wanted us to understand why also.
There are (almost) always good, if imperfect, reasons why thoughtful people choose one choice over another. And even the Republicans in congress aren't as stupid and dysfunctional as MSM groupthink is pushing about Democrats.

I agree that everyone should have expected Corey to be a combative dick. That's all he's ever been in this era (and probably ever).

During and right after, people rush to despair. Then the next day, when the experts weigh in, attitudes change.
A lesson for sparing a lot of wear and tear on the psyche -- wait for the experts. And not on TV. We have access to some of the best legal minds in the nation via the internet, who by definition refuse to sing the songs the cable networks require of their daytime regulars.
