CEO paid 22 million.
So much for the health insurance the union bargained for. If we had universal health care, maybe they could bargain for better wages, retirement benefits, or something else.

(21,425 posts)so for 865 million they could give everyone a $5000 a year raise and this strike would be over and they profit 7.2 billion instead of 8.1.
and it isn't even like the 173000 are all UAW......... so it wouldn't even cost them that much a year.

(7,498 posts)In one of the articles posted yesterday, one of the sticking points was that GM's offer included an expanded profit sharing program but the union wanted increases to their base wages. GM's management is probably being prudent in being conservative with base wage increases, and the union is probably being prudent knowing that they'll get shafted if GM has another year like 2017.

(32,532 posts)GM has spent over $10 billion buying back its own stock. This raises the stock price. GM brass are large share holders and receive a large amount of compensation in stock options.
