The Democrats should really let Barry Berke do all the questioning during these hearings

I know that Congresspeople like to spout off in front of the cameras, but if they want to get anything done, and get it done effectively, they should really use a trained prosecutor. Berke showed how to question a hostile witness today.

Let the Congress members follow up afterwards. It softens up the witness and gives the members something to go on. If something is going to come out, the lawyer’s questioning will probably get it. If members go last, they can use that new information for both political and procedural ends.

out the clock blocking bringing him in. We helped them run out the clock on their objections, and some got in some very good points in the doing.

Anyway, we couldn't stop the Republicans' attempts to portray the whole thing as a corrupt Democratic circus, nor could we turn the whole 5 hours over to their corrupt posturing. Nor, of course, would it have been a good idea to drag Barry Berke's questioning out over 5 hours interspersed with long periods of Republican distraction and malinterpretations.
