We're paying for it now, with a giant, upside-down pyramid of parasites added on top of the bill.

We just need to trim some mansions off the top.

socialized medicine as an option that a large majority would choose. Not doable nationally at this time, of course. Our local medical groups and facilities alone would very strongly object to being seized for collective ownership, not to mention having one employment option: work for the collective.

I can't help thinking, though, that as a socialist Sanders must regret his capitalist, for-profit plan. How could it be otherwise knowing about systems like Germany's, Japan's, Israel's, many others, and of course the VA here? Notably, most of those considered the best, like Germany's, offer citizens different options, not just compulsory socialized for all. The VA is a potential card to hold for future deals.

It will take time and a multi-prong approach to transition from our "wealth care", for-profit health care system to one that treats health care as a basic human right whose cost is shared by all.
