WTF? 'Feel free to leak this': Inside the Pelosi-Nadler impeachment schism

In a closed-door meeting last week, Speaker Nancy Pelosi stunned lawmakers and aides with a swipe at Democratic staff on the House Judiciary Committee.

Pelosi criticized the panel’s handling of impeachment in harsh terms, complaining committee aides have advanced the push for ousting President Donald Trump far beyond where the House Democratic Caucus stands. Democrats simply don’t have the votes on the floor to impeach Trump, Pelosi said.

“And you can feel free to leak this,” Pelosi added, according to multiple people in the room. Pelosi’s office declined to comment on the meeting.

It was the latest sign of the widening schism between Pelosi and Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, two longtime allies who are increasingly in conflict over where to guide the party at one of its most critical moments.

And it is the House Dems job to educate the public so that we can get the votes. I don’t even know if that happens. Ultimately it is up to the people to either vote these people out or to push for impeachment. Maybe both. Until reps feel like they have to vote for impeachment they won’t. Continue to male the case to the people.

from a unidentified source who said they were there. But, I would challenge the
impeachment naysayers to provide any article or unidentified source that states Pelosi expressed an unequivocal, full-throated support of impeachment at ANY time. All I have seen is luke-warm at very best. There is far more out there that demonstrates veiled opposition.

And scarier than that is floating opposition to holding Lew in contempt.

I guess, if you may believe that trump will get re-elected, which he may because we haven't protected the 2020 election, then keeping the House would be the most critical factor. Yet having the House now - how has that stopped him from doing whatever he wants? I know we stopped the Emergency deal - but he just worked around it.

Though I've always been a big fan of her, Nancy's instincts now suck - and this country could be a terrible price for that fact!
