The very dark truth about the Con revealed in his Cokie Roberts comments

https://edition.cnn.com/2019/09/18/politics/donald-trump-cokie-roberts/index.html
<snip>
President Donald Trump doesn't follow that rule. Asked about the passing of legendary journalist Cokie Roberts on Tuesday, here's what Trump said (in part):
"I never met her. She never treated me nicely. But I would like to wish her family well. She was a professional, and I respect professionals."
So, yeah.
The first words out of his mouth when asked about someone's death was a) never met her and b) "she never treated me nicely." Me, Me, Me, Me, Me Me.
While all politicians -- and all people -- tend to see things through a how-does-this-impact-me lens, most of us understand that turning everything, especially someone else's death, into a conversation about ourselves is hugely selfish and narcissistic. It also reeks of a lack of empathy, an inability to step outside yourself and into another person's shoes for even a minute.

I never met Cokie Roberts either but I can certainly feel the loss of a talent like hers, but unlike Trump, I can also imagine how the loss can be felt more deeply by people who knew her and loved her.

The thing that makes Trump so despicable at this point is the fact that he helps to set public policy for this country, and because we are the most powerful nation on Earth, his toxic personality affects everyone. If he were just a two bit, spoiled wannabe real estate developer in New York, we could mock him and leave him to the dustbin of history. The biggest problem is that enough people in this country voted for him, as to allow him and the GOP to select him as the president.

He is the face of the United States.

DU pretty much fulfills any need I may have for squabbling, and I’m in contact with world happenings through the internet, both on my iPad and through streaming on the tv. If I have no guests to take long day trips with I only fill my gas tank twice a year. I am an artist and I paint and can do so whenever the mood strikes me. I live alone with my cat. I’m more content than I’ve ever been in my life. I even have groceries delivered, so I shop mostly online. I do it because I have tendinitis in all my tendons brought on by medication I was given 5 years ago so my mobility is very restricted.

Modern times are great for reclusive people. You really don’t have to bother with people to be informed. Time doesn’t leave you behind.

Sometimes two or three months will pass between my reluctant trips to civilization. My wife thought I was nuts until she retired. Now she goes out only when necessary, too. It's peaceful out in the wild.

The Dark Triad...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_triad

In psychology, the dark triad refers to the personality traits of narcissism, machiavellianism, and psychopathy.[1][2][3][4] They are called "dark" because of their malevolent qualities.[5][1][6][7]

Research on the dark triad is used in applied psychology, especially within the fields of law enforcement, clinical psychology, and business management. People scoring high on these traits are more likely to commit crimes, cause social distress and create severe problems for an organization, especially if they are in leadership positions (for more information, see psychopathy, narcissism, and Machiavellianism in the workplace). They also tend to be less compassionate, agreeable, empathetic, satisfied with their lives, and less likely to believe they and others are good.[8]

All three dark triad traits are conceptually distinct although empirical evidence shows them to be overlapping. They are associated with a callous-manipulative interpersonal style.[9]

Narcissism is characterized by grandiosity, pride, egotism, and a lack of empathy.[10]
Machiavellianism is characterized by manipulation and exploitation of others, an absence of morality, and a higher level of self interest.[11]
Psychopathy is characterized by continuous antisocial behavior, impulsivity, selfishness, callous and unemotional traits (CU),[12] and remorselessness.[13]
A factor analysis carried out at the Glasgow Caledonian University found that among the big five personality traits, low agreeableness is the strongest correlate of the dark triad, while neuroticism and a lack of conscientiousness were associated with some of the dark triad members.[11]

The perception of the world is how it revolves around them. They have to be constantly rewarded and praised. I do believe Trump's run for President was vengeance for Obama'a take down of him at the White House Correspondents Dinner in 2011. Cokie Roberts was way too educated and intellectual to ever be a part of Trump's tribe.

Dana Milbank reported that "He did meet Roberts. At Trump Tower. In a nationally televised interview. (“Thanks for having us here at your palace,” said she. He replied: “It’s been a great honor.”)

As usual, he lies and denies constantly and what he says is unrelated to reality.
