Clandestine meeting will destroy healthcare for millions of US Vetrans

HOUSE SUBCOMMITTEE ON THE BUDGET
President Trump’s Budget Hurts Veterans Through Extreme Cuts to Crucial Programs

The President’s third budget relies on gimmicks, fantasy economic projections, and extreme cuts that abandon the American people, including our veterans...

Destructive Cuts to Health Programs Put Veterans’ Health at Risk
Veterans rely on various health care systems to ensure their well-being. While 9 million veterans, or approximately half of the veteran population, receive coverage through VA, a large number are ineligible due to a variety of factors, including falling short of minimum service requirements and disability and discharge status.

Approximately 1.8 million veterans rely on Medicaid — The budget slashes Medicaid by $1.5 trillion over 10 years, which represents approximately one out of every four dollars spent on Medicaid. Nearly 1 in 10 veterans – more than 1.8 million – are covered by Medicaid, and many of these veterans have extensive health care needs.

More than half of all veterans, approximately 9.4 million, rely on Medicare — The budget makes several changes to Medicare by shifting costs onto hospitals, post-acute care providers, and some beneficiaries, reducing federal spending by more than $500 billion over 10 years. Medicare beneficiaries include more than 9.4 million veterans who rely on the program as their primary or supplementary source of insurance coverage.

Affordable Care Act (ACA) reduces veterans’ uninsured rate — The budget builds on the Trump Administration’s actions to sabotage the ACA by making yet another attempt to “repeal and replace” the law. These efforts threaten to reverse the ACA’s success in expanding insurance coverage among veterans.

Extreme Cuts to SNAP and Other Benefits for Struggling Families Threaten Veterans’ Economic Security

Nearly 1.4 million veterans live in households that participate in SNAP — The President’s budget cuts $327 billion over 10 years from mandatory programs that support working families, including $220 billion from SNAP. For low-income veterans, who may be unemployed, working in low-wage jobs, or face physical and mental health challenges, these mandatory programs provide an essential support to help them meet basic needs.

TRUMP'S MAR-A-LAGO FRIENDS' INFLUENCE OVER THE VA WILL BE PROBED BY GOVERNMENT WATCHDOG
BY RAMSEY TOUCHBERRY of Newsweek

A government watchdog agency said it will investigate possible wrongdoing concerning the involvement of three Mar-a-Lago members who reportedly have widespread influence within the Department of Veterans Affairs, an agency of which the private citizens have no official role in.

The report found that three men—Marvel Entertainment Chairman Ike Perlmutter, physician Bruce Moskowitz and lawyer Marc Sherman—were "secretly shaping the Trump administration's veterans' policies." All three are also Trump associates.

The investigation will not be completed anytime soon...

Through personal meetings at Mar-a-Lago and by remote communication, the three men reportedly "bombarded VA officials with demands, many of them inept or unhelpful."

Behind the mask, that is all they really, fundamentally support and stand for.

They are stooges for the Military Industrial Complex and the champions of the Oligarchy, plain and simple. They are doing their job well and do not generally represent the people. Right now, a coup of democracy itself is afoot here.

Back then, Republicans were only conservative in financial matters, without supporting alleged social conservative policies.

His name was General Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Truly qualified to serve as Commander-In-Chief, during World War II, he was a five-star general in the Army and served as Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force in Europe. He was responsible for planning and supervising the invasion of North Africa in Operation Torch in 1942–43 and the successful Invasion of Normandy in 1944–45 from the Western Front, which liberated France.

On Jan. 17, 1961, President Dwight Eisenhower gave the nation a dire warning about what he described as a threat to democratic government. He called it the military-industrial complex, a formidable union of defense contractors and the armed forces.

Here's an excerpt:

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist."

Eisenhower compared to all Republicans after him...? Totally great! I would say compared to all Republican Presidents back to Roosevelt would be "great" as well.

There are the small matters of Eisenhower's approval of deposing democratically elected governments in Iran and throughout Central America in the 50's.

I mean, you can say that Eisenhower was just following traditional American foreign policy but still...

Eisenhower was a Republican and he leaned toward the hierarchy, a more capitalist, free market approach; but he was a thoughtful man who tried to balance those things with the good of the American people.

and that Democrats currently control the house.

The Koch alliance and their types have been planning and working to destroy the VA for years now. The military's been watching this keenly all along.

House Dems are expected to vote another short budget extension this week, as congress faces off over Trump's plundering of military programs to build his spite fence, etcetera.

I'd point to anxiety, though. We see a lot of it here too. If we can get control long enough to enable people to believe in stable, sustainable futures, a lot of the toxic behaviors will calm down.

Election of better leaders on the right would do wonders also.

If, would, currently...
