General Tells Donald Trump To Keep Quiet About 'Wired' Border Wall And Tweeters Go Loud

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/donald-trump-border-wall-technology_n_5d83615de4b0849d47244b98?section=politics&ncid=tweetlnkushpmg00000016

President Donald Trump was mocked on Twitter after the commanding general of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers told him it was probably best not to reveal technology being used in newly constructed sections of the U.S.-Mexico border wall.

In a video that is going viral for the wrong reasons, Trump on Wednesday boasted to reporters in San Diego’s Otay Mesa area that the wall is “wired so that we will know if somebody’s trying to break through.”

He then invited Lt. Gen. Todd Semonite, the Army chief of engineers, to expand on the details.

But Semonite responded: “Sir, there could be some merit in not discussing that.”

“OK,” replied Trump. “I like that, that was a great answer. I’ll just tell you, they’re wired.”

Check out the clip here:

Oh my god. Trump starts to discuss apparently sensitive technology deployed at the border. Asks the General in charge to describe the technology.

The General's response: "Sir, there could be some merit in not discussing that."

The video of Trump blabbing about wall technology garnered plenty of negative reaction online:

The general’s response should be written in sharpie in block letters on a card & clipped into a harmonica holder that the president wears around his neck at all times.

Now he can boast about "secret technology" being "successfully" implemented to "repel" the "invaders".

Trump: "And now we'll have General Semonite, chief of the Army Corps of Engineers, discuss our surveillance system."

Gen. Semonite: "Why yes, Mr. President. We have installed a very good electronic security system on this wall, but we ran out of money so there are two miles that are completely undefended. If you go about nine miles west of Naco, Arizona, that's where the eastern boundary of the unsecured part is. So, if you want to bring some guns, drugs, explosives, terrorists, Trump Organization employees, 'models' or Russian intelligence agents into the country without going through Customs and Immigration and you don't want to get caught, that's where to go."
