Serves Netanhu right, this has been a long time coming, especially after the way he treated PBO.
Benjamin Netanyahu is learning the hard way that Donald Trump is a fair-weather friend. The right-wing Israeli prime minister had been among the presidents few steadfast friends on the world stage; Trump, in turn, has long stood strong with Netanyahu. But after Bibi appeared to suffer a stinging loss in the Israeli elections this week, Trump did what he always does when his buds fall on tough times and can no longer benefit him personally: He distanced himself from his embattled friend, appearing to downplay a relationship that Netanyahu made central to his reelection pitch to voters.
Our relations are with Israel, Trump told reporters Wednesday, deemphasizing Netanyahus significance to the alliance after the prime minister failed to establish a conservative majority. So well see what happens.
It was a notable turn for Trump, who has cast Netanyahu as his good friend. Hes tacked close to the prime minister, taking a number of Netanyahu-friendly actions as presidentincluding recognizing the Golan Heights as part of Israel and moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalemand offering up his full-throated endorsement in last Aprils election. The United States is with him and the People of Israel all the way! Trump tweeted at the time. Netanyahu, in turn, has lavished praise on Trump, saying that Israel has never had a better friend and even naming a planned settlement Trump Heights, playing into the presidents well-established enthusiasm for seeing his name on things.

(35,454 posts)There are calls for a National Unity Government. Netanyahu wants to be co-PM and share the power but Gantz and the Blue & Whites are having none of that. They want a unity gov. but without bibi. Also, bibi will have to face the charges against him in 2 weeks time.

(11,730 posts)The election has been over for 2 days. Trump said this yesterday when it appeared that Benny Gantz's lead was holding. Perhaps if something turns around and Netanyahu manages to find more votes, Trump will be his "best friend" again.

Netanyahu faces criminal charges of corruption and will not have the cover of a title to keep him out of an Israeli prison. Trump sees this and fears that if he loses BIG in 2020, he too will share the same fate.
Another thought just came to mind....Trump lost an ally in which to go to war with Iran . Israel will defend itself, but it will not be firing first. They will fire if Iran fires first, and NOT at the insistence of Trump to justify a war with Iran.
Doesn't take a Secretary of State to figure that one out.

Noticed yesterday that none of the Saudi's Spox's never mentioned retaliation only to push ARAMCO IPO as well as their ability to meet Oil Market demands.
But,our End Timers Pence and Pompeo are all in for bomb bomb Iran crap. Interesting comment came from Japan's Foriegn Service person stating Iran was not the one launching that Saudi Attack. And it had a Yemen connection.

"U.S. President Donald Trump's first secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, spoke at Harvard on Tuesday during a 90-minute panel interview with Harvard professors, giving assessments of various world leaders - including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Tillerson, who had a contentious tenure as the U.S.s top diplomat, said that Netanyahu is an extraordinarily skilled politician and diplomat, but a bit Machiavellian. He continued, saying that In dealing with Bibi, its always useful to carry a healthy amount of skepticism in your discussions with him.
Tillerson, who first formed relationships with many world leaders while CEO of Exxon Mobile and served as secretary of state from February 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018, even recounted how Netanyahu would use misinformation to persuade the U.S. when he deemed it necessary.
They did that with the president on a couple of occasions, to persuade him that Were the good guys, theyre the bad guys. We later exposed it to the president so he understood, Youve been played, said Tillerson."

(10,171 posts)Hes going to find out none of the allies weve always been able to count on are not going to join up with him. Hes consistently shit on them and buddied up to dictators. His coalition will be the US and Saudi Arabia. Maybe the U.K., Johnson will be trying to incur favor. Hard to say about Israel, weve joined at the hip for a long time, but no one trusts Trump.

donald trump doesn't like losers. Even if it's somebody he used to like when they weren't losers, he never liked them if it turns out they are losers.
Why...donald trump and Netanyahu were just casual acquintances (if trump ever even met him at all)
