Looks like the closed door meeting with the IC IG didn't go anywhere.

Here is the NYT story:
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/19/us/politics/intelligence-whistle-blower-complaint-trump.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share

"WASHINGTON — The internal watchdog for American spy agencies declined repeatedly in a briefing on Thursday to disclose to lawmakers the content of a potentially explosive whistle-blower complaint that is said to involve a discussion between President Trump and a foreign leader, according to two people familiar with the briefing."

More coverup.

They’ll fall on their swords for Trump, serve their few month jail sentence and be back to normal life.

Maybe I’m just pessimistic, but I don’t think I am.

There have already been a couple leaks

They’ll fall on their swords for Trump, serve their few month jail sentence and be back to normal life.

Nobody will go to jail for it. Not only is the part of the law that they're violating likely unconstitutional... I don't think that it includes any statutory penalties for violating it.

IIRC, the DNI and the whistleblower (under some defined guidelines) are the only people authorized to disclose the content of a IG report with congress.

Love Shiff but he knew this when he called the guy to testify.

Trump has succeeded in creating that "chilling effect" where people are personally afraid of the systemic consequences of wading into the gray zone of disclosure.

Last night during the transition from Rachel. The IG is not permitted to speak about it. Only the DNI. AND, under certain circumstances, the whistle blower him/her self. Schiff was never going to get any answers today.

But it's difficult to be patient.

Dear Political Gods,

Could we win one of these? Soon?

Thank you.

Sincerely,

They are allowed to elevate the complaint.

The DNI has not acted or forwarded it to the next level, so they are within their rights to take it to the committee.

He read the applicable statutes. There is a chain of command for this stuff.
