Texas flooding: Imelda rains, flooding 'worse than (Hurricane) Harvey'

First responders were overwhelmed by 911 calls for high water rescues Thursday as Tropical Depression Imelda drenched East Texas with unrelenting rain measured in feet.

Officials in Houston say there have been more than 1,000 rescues and evacuations because of rising waters.

Authorities in Jefferson County, east of Houston, said some localized areas have seen more than 40 inches of rain in the last three days. More was coming.

"The Flash Flood Emergency has been continued and expanded," the National Weather Service office in Houston said. "This is an incredibly dangerous, life-threatening situation."

The counties in the eastern third of the state flood over and over again. We've had severe flooding from a hurricane three times in the past three years, and if Dorian had come a little further west we would have been hit again.

The people in these communities are mostly poor. They can't rebuild every year. The houses are full of mold and the groundwater is polluted. Eventually some parts of the state will become uninhabitable.

That includes droughts which is the reason for the catastrophic fires in California. You know, the ones where Trump said they should have raked the forests.

But you’re right about the water. An increase of just a very few degrees of warmth creates more tons of evaporation which then comes down as more water and more snow precipitation.

I fear this is our new weather normal, and if we don’t do something very quickly will only get worse in time.

over DR and Haiti and heading for Jamaica doesn't enter the Gulf of Mexico.
It should end our drought but I'm not sure Texas or Louisiana can handle more water.

But at least the President of the United States is offering his best wishes and promises of support OH WAIT that motherfucker hasn’t said a word to his fellow Americans who are losing everything they own today

He’s too busy saving his own limp, sad-ass, miserable, shitty life

Hang tough, Texans, we are awful sorry for your nightmare troubles

Great news. @MariaBartiromo just renewed her
deal with Fox. I don’t care how much they paid her,
they got a beautiful bargain. Congratulations to both!
