11. I remember him pissing off half the Justice Dept when he bagged some mobsters...

using a theory that ended up screwing up prosecutions around the country. Don't remember exactly what he did, but there was a lot of talk about it back then.

He was probably the worst mayor NYC ever had. After 9/11 he refused to let the Fire, Police and EMS brass say a word. It was all about him. He even claimed term limits didn't apply to him because he was the only one who could bring the city back from the depths.

When I worked downtown, I used to grab a sandwich and wander over to City Hall Park. Ed Koch tried to have at least one celebration a week on the steps and I'll never forget when he gave Dolly Parton the keys to the city and she sang a short set on the steps. Koch wasn't expecting it and he had a great time. We all had a great time.

Rudy walled off City Hall and the park. It really wasn't fun any more.

The worst was what a police lieutenant told me-- on one New Years Eve, he sent out a directive that crime victims near death be kept on life support until after midnight so their deaths would be counted in the new year.

And yes, he is now batshit crazy,

supplying the workers with better dust masks. they wouldn't even need the $20 or $50 cartridge masks, just the better v version of the cheap masks, the 25 cent masks instead of the 5 cent masks, with the better seal and rubber strip around the nose and a much better ability to conform.
