Lake Park man allegedly obsessed with Fox News, GOP is in jail after threats made to girlfriend

Source: The Palm Beach Post

A Lake Park man “obsessed with Fox News and the Republican party” is in jail today after he allegedly said that he felt he was going to have to kill his girlfriend because she was a “liberal.”

<snip>

On Saturday, Kappheim showed up at her friend’s house uninvited and “stark naked,” she said, according to the arrest report.

She said he tried strangling her the next day.

<snip>

While inside of the woman’s apartment, the deputy said he found documents that made him believe Kappheim is obsessed with Fox News and the Republican Party, and that he may be a danger to others.

Precisely why there should be regulation on what's allowed to be labeled news. nt Comrade_McKenzie Sep 2012 #3
Who's going to "regulate" it? And how? Archae Sep 2012 #4

Some of them were mentally unstable to start with...and those are the ones who they are subtly reaching out to and encouraging them to do others harm because others believe differently.

That would help a lot.

Those not receiving public funds would not be allowed to call themselves a news channel.

And to receive public funds, you'd have to abide by an updated version of the Fairness Doctrine.

if they lose money that is ok... but we do need the fairness doctrine back and badly.

We already have Pravda, except that it is not government run, but party run. The RNC uses FOX as it's propaganda "news" channel... and CNN is not that far from following them

Tell me, in your current model, how much honest coverage do you see of oh I don't know LABOR issues?

But that's why we have media watchdog groups.
ACTUAL media watchdogs like "Media Matters," not far-right "liberal media bias" liars like Brent Bozell's "Media Research Center."

Faux "news" has peaked. And is in decline.
They ended up canning the ass of one of their biggest names, Glenn Beck.
They are exposed over and over flat-out lying.

Their parent company is still in hot water up to it's ass.

and this is the model media uses these days... some worst than others.

If I cover Labor, I got to have a story that balances from the Business POV... but if we have a business POV, there is no labor story to balance this.

We need the Fairness Doctrine and all watchdogs are not enough. We need to stop some of this shit and how media is produced.

CITIZENS need to demand a whole review of how this is produced. And that starts from the top.

I used labor as an example, education is another good example. We really have a "penchant" for "balance" that has hurt news in ways that news truly needs to be rebuilt from the bottom up.

As to the watchdog groups, this is how bad this is... Bozell is accurate... if your bias is good enough, while Media matters is biased if your bias leans that way.
