(6,110 posts)I am pretty sure Australia gov't structure follows the British model, and he is Prime Minister,
who is chosen NOT by the whole country electorate as in United States, but voted in by the elected representatives. Usually the majority party gets to designate the Prime Minister.
Second thread too this has happened.

(6,110 posts)But the "president" in a parliamentary system does not have chief executive's powers & duties. It is in many ways a figure head. Great Britain does not have a president. The Queen of England serves that function in many ways.
