I'd be interested in knowing just when our party leaders were first aware of this particular aspect of Trump-Ukraine. It's actually likely that some information leaked through friendly contacts in Ukraine, for instance, before this filing.

We have made miles of progress in a few days. This incident is tangible, understandable, with definite statutes that apply. It's not a judgment call, it's collusion/obstruction in plain sight, probably in addition to what attorney Jeremy Bash said yesterday - extortion, conspiracy - all rolled into one. Asking a foreign government to invesigate your opponent may be a bridge too far for even a few Republicans.

The whistleblower is a true patriot, some saying it's Dan Coates and his assistant. The Republican party may have discipline like no other, but they also are not a monolith, there are disagreements that fester and norms that harken back to their more patriotic past.

the House should get a "Writ of Mandamus". It is "an order by a court to a lesser government official to perform an act required by law which he has refused or neglected to do." That should be served on the "acting" DNI making him turn over the report to Congress. I am not sure if this would work.
