(58,785 posts)for action are what we always needed. The consequences of deniers and ignorers refusing their duty have inexorably progressed to the point that even children are aware, and the uniqueness of children lecturing adults is getting media attention to the issue, all to the good.
We shouldn't imagine finally reaching the point where we can act has shifted any responsibilities off our shoulders, though. It increases them because fixing this is OUR job, most especially as Democrats because who else?
Btw, the gold-standard League of Conservation Voters wasn't blowing smoke when they said they were "thrilled" that the nation had given Democrats control of the house. They were. Thrilled! For reason. Democrats in office couldn't prevail against 2/3-3/4 of the populace, plus business, plus the Republicans in office around the nation, but our record of believing and doing what we could, of being the ones, has always been far better than most realize.
