We may be looking at the biggest scandal in American history.

That would be 243 years.

An entire political Party may have been corrupted.

All branches of our government have been challenged.

Nothing else even comes close.

We need to understand the magnitude of what we are experiencing.

Our view of ourselves as a nation is no longer operable. Our frame of reference is now fiction. We have a president who has successfully transformed his title to “Dictator.” This is not hyperbole. He successfully places himself above the law, supported by the second largest political party in the country. HE WON. We have a dictatorship. The Dems WILL NOT OVERCOME this coup. They are waiting for a popular uprising that won’t happen, and they won’t lead one. We have Dictator Donnie. And the totality of the media denies the obvious.

And here we sit....waiting....pondering....giving a little more time to....being a little more patient toward....finding another excuse for....calculating political risks about....

This isn’t the time for trial balloons whispered in a news reporter’s ear, it’s time for a full-on leadership news conference stating exactly what’s at stake, which is everything.

Corruption like Tea Pot Dome were solved somewhat easily because the corruption was limited. Here the corruption is perverse where law enforcement/justice is in on the corruption so the laws intended as a check and balance are worthless because they are just ignored. Indeed, this dwarfs corruption like Tea Pot Dome, Watergate and Iran-Contra - all, incidentally, were Republican administrations.

Netanyahu needs a 61-member right-wing coalition to win immunity if the attorney general decides to indict him for 3 cases of corruption after his upcoming hearing on Oct. 3.

He'd also need 61 to pass a law allowing the Knesset to overrule the supreme court if it were to conclude Netanyahu’s immunity status were illegal.

that this is THE biggest scandal in the history of our nation. The entirety of the government has been corrupted. IMO, this has happened because it was ALLOWED to happen. When nixon was allowed to interfere in the Viet Nam peace talks in order to win the election, a precedent was set that then allowed reagan and poppy bush to interfere with the hostages in Iran in order to win the 1980 election. Gore did not challenge the 2000 SCOTUS judicial fiat that installed W in the WH; he then proceeded to deplete Clinton's budget surplus in an illegal war that still drags on. To date, no one has been held accountable for the theft of the 2016 election. If this pattern continues for much longer, there will be nothing left to save.

THEY MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. Until there are actual consequences for breaking the law, these criminals will continue to tear away at the fabric of this nation BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEY CAN.

Sun Sep 22, 2019, 02:54 PM
Sep 2019

Foreign, global, international capital, depending on the time period referenced, was always going to try to get their hooks into American bounty. And our businessmen sold it to them, to make money. Old money is devouring our relatively new American experiment in democracy.

David McCullough's "John Adams" details how the new America almost wasn't. We needed money. We had to beg and borrow overseas for capital to fund our government. Our ideals were only going to endure as long as we could be sovereign, but we needed money to accomplish it. That is a point we do not understand today. Our will to defend ourselves, our ideals, our concept of human rights now depends on our will because we have the money and credit we need. But our political will is flagging. We have been sold out. Our voters don't understand the connections between ideals and political will, between values and sovereignty. Trump convinced enough of them in the right places that wearing a red hat was all we stood for, that the enemy was our freedom and not foreign intrigue. Our citizens are stupid, they know more about football and Hollywood than the Bill of Rights. Trump didn't create this, he is just the current and most significant iteration of opportunist.

Another Congresswoman has already gone to considerable lengths to normalize his behaviour through statements saying that she didn't want him impeached, and convincing other Democrats to step back from supporting impeachment. Democrats are in serious danger of being known as rolling over while our Constitution is stomped into the ground, and our planet burns.

History is not on the side of those looking for the Democratic leadership to actually do the right thing. The '00 election was stolen, Democrats rolled over. Bush started a devastating war that lead to a horrific loss of life, and Democrats rolled over. Trump is putting kids in concentration camps, so Democrats decided to better fund said concentration camps.

It is beyond that descriptive word.

That would be like saying the Civil War was a "scandal".

Just my opinion.

but....how do you gauge what is a "scandal" and it's severity?
Is the Russian interference in '16 a "scandal" of importance? Maybe the worst "scandal" because we got the trumpanzee to begin with?
Anything post Nov'16 is just a continuation of that shit show...."scandal".

In the meantime I have to respect Geez, your point about slavery,; the length and depth of the corrupt misery it caused is very big on a properly defined scale.

The Robber Baron's also fit on the slavery scale.

Sure, Republicans are shitting all over the Constitution and the Republic, but the American people elected the Blue Wave with one thing in mind and one thing only: permanent inaction.

Blah blah blah they're planning this and investigating that. Fuck that. We need action. The world needs action. History needs action.

And, if Democrats continue with their tried-and-true strategy of ineffectual strategizing, history will record how handily they, along with Republicans, enabled Trump's complete destruction of the country.

And the ones for whom it’s too much just say they’re not going to run for re-election. They don’t speak out. They are complicit, though. And the ones who stay, and those like Lewandowski and most of Fox News? They are not merely enablers. They are collaborators. And many may well be co-conspirators.

History will not judge them well.

the great American experiment is drawing to a close. It doesn't have to happen this way but the public seems not to care enough. On the plus side think of all the stories you can tell your grandchildren when they ask about the USA...
