Anti-vaccination protestors in Sacramento are claiming that theyre the newest civil rights movement on the block.
Protestors gathered at the California State Capitol this past Friday to protest legislation that would crack down on parents who refuse to immunize their children against contagious diseases, claiming that theyre fighting for freedom and equality, just like African Americans, women, and LGBTQ people have done.
Politico reports that the group of mostly white women sang We Shall Overcome in the capitol building, a gospel song that became an anthem of the Civil Rights Movement.
They chanted No segregation, no discrimination, yes on education for all! and wore T-shirts that said Freedom Keepers.

(33,328 posts)We're all born with the right to sneeze. Sneezing, with the right disease, is a weapon of mass infection. Ergo, infecting others is protected by the 2nd Amendment! Vaccinations are coming to take away our guns!
(Watch for Rand Paul to make the above argument someday soon).

(937 posts)Anti-vaccination advocates are the ultimate hypocrites. Their idiotic rejection of vaccinations comes at very little cost to them because the majority of sane, thinking people still vaccinate their children. Herd immunity protects them. Dont believe in vaccinations? I dare you to travel with your child to one of the few places left on earth where polio is still endemic. Does the prospect of your child becoming paralyzed horrify you? The anti-HPV vaccine has changed the incidence genital warts and cervical cancer in my lifetime. I have no tolerance for idiots.
