Ukraine scandal: Pelosi does not want to impeach unless there is a smoking gun. This may be it.

We do not know yet what the whistleblower knows and what he has. Whoever this person is they are smart. They did everything by the book.

Pelosi wants a smoking gun, a document or recording before she moves on impeachment. The whistleblower may have the smoking gun.

You can tell how worried Trump and his people are. They moved quickly to commit more crimes with more obstruction.

I find it hard to believe all this whistleblower has is his word. He must have something else.

Because even if "all he has is his word" his word will count for a great deal. Same for Sue Gordon. If it is someone like John Bolton, that could be less true.

3. If Pelosi Doesn't Have The Votes for Impeachment Folks Should Focus on the Dem No Votes

rather than bashing Pelosi. I rarely see any anger directed at those Dems that have not said they will vote for impeachment. Pelosi is giving them a pass by not bringing an impeachment vote to the floor. With the Ukraine issue she should move forward with impeachment now, votes be damned.

We need to start a call-in campaign to them. We need to hold them accountable for lack of doing their job.

I think she's trying to give them time and space to get to yes. And she would rather have a successful impeachment later than a failed impeachment now

Impeachment isn't going to stop or change him in any way, so we're not looking at a time of the essence situation. But if it's important to impeach him for other reasons - history, to make a point, etc - I think she knows that it's really not going to make any difference whether he's impeached in September or December or February. The important thing will be that it happened. And it can only happen when she gets to 218 votes.

For all intents and purposes the Impeachment Inquiry IS ongoing, but people who are against impeachment can always look to Pelosi to say she's not ready for impeachment. I hate to use that cliche, but it's like having your cake and eating it too. And when the time is right, when there is an offense by the president that everyone can understand (like perhaps Whistleblowergate) there will be unified mobilization. She is keeping her options open and studying the situation, like a cat watching a mouse but not yet ready to attack.

Maybe she will now back impeachment on the way out, and her district is getting more progressive.

the gloves don't fit. The report and his testimony were so dry it all fell with loud thud. Pelosi wants a real smoking gun. Like the Nixon tapes.

the "real smoking gun" Pelosi needs. On this I want them to take their time and get it right. It needs to be front page news until then. The story must remain an outrage until impeachment hearings begin in earnest.

played Barry Berke's interrogation of Lewandowski over and over and over again. That is the way every public hearing should sound.

We've got a winning strategy with Barry Berke. It doesn't matter how hostile these witnesses are with him. He knows how to handle criminals.
