Democratic leadership in the House says theyve passed more laws than any House in history and blame Moscow Mitch for blocking this legislative action. Politically this seems like good strategy to pressure the GOP controlled Senate.
They continue to pass laws they know wont even get on the Agenda in the Senate.
Why isnt this strategy used for Impeachment?

(23,018 posts)Much of the legislation they passed undoes or prevents Trump from the things hes been doing. Trump has already made these issues divisive and whether Liberals see it that way or not is irrelevant. His base sees it that way.
Most Democrats and more than half of independents favor impeachment at this point.

that is why they bring more cases against POC than white people, because a jury is more likely to convict them.
I assume you think that is OK then. After all, no need to worry about charging or even investigating anyone who might not be convicted.
By this standard, the criminal justice system is simply a vehicle for putting those without money and power into prison.

(25,183 posts)knowing full well that they will not even reach the floor of the Senate, let alone get signed by the orange turd are for the purpose of winning the next election, nothing more. A Democratic congressperson can stand in front of their constituents and say, "I voted for X, Y, and Z, my opponent would never ever do that. Someday, we'll have the White House and a workable majority in the Senate, keep me there for that happy day."
There is a very real possibility that impeachment will not produce that kind of outcome.

(31,261 posts)Impeachment is a gut wrenching process. Nancy Pelosi was old enough to see the Nixon affair ( don't know whether she was in the House yet at that time). The whole thing was pretty devisive, even when a crook is being impeached, that should not be taken lightly.
I really think that we should focus on highlighting Trump's behavior and challenge the Surburban moms and dads in swing states to explain to their children why they want to vote for him, all can't and many will not in the end. The results of 2018 should be a marker. If we do well in a couple month, then that will be even more evidence that the path that Speaker Pelosi is taking is the correct one for getting rid of Trump.
On edit: it looks like Speaker Pelosi came to the House in 1988.

(26,080 posts)If she has that then I suspect they will wait to impeach until just after the Republicans formally endorse Trump because then it puts the Republicans in a bind of supporting a person facing impeachment that they supported.
It also leaves them a shorter time to try and do damage control both to protect Trumps chances at winning a 2nd term and their own at retaining their seat as well as forces them to waste extra resources and money to do so.

(32,983 posts)I'm remembering Clinton's Impeachment, and I don't remember "major laws".
The GOP did it because it was politically advantageous.
