You see nothing hypocritical about this? And I give more than five bucks each year.

They are there because we discuss guns. The algorithm doesn’t recognize sides on an issue.

Because you shouldn't see any ads at all if you're a star contributor. Which you are.

I do know that every so often my computer decides to log me off DU, and I notice the ads immediately and log back in. Annoying, but fixable.

Maybe if the OP posts a lot about guns, he or she sees NRA ads. But as you pointed out, the problem is fixable by having a star membership and logging on.

We have to tell them, and then they can remove them.

They have no control over which ads are shown, I believe.

And I think if you stay logged in, you'll never see them. That's been my experience, anyway.

Were it not for the ads, I would have never discovered that one weird tip for getting rid of my belly fat. Nor would I have braced myself properly when viewing Kate Jackson of Charlie's Angels after all these years. Live and learn, as grandad used to say.

They have no control of what pops up on your device until you are logged in.
