Did Trump promise to tell Putin the identity(ies) of one or more US spies?
Trumps interaction w/ the foreign leader included a promise that was regarded as so troubling that it prompted an official in the U.S. IC to file a formal whistleblower complaint... 1/ #Whistleblower

(61,675 posts)Trump requested a list of top US spies? Did the DNI or Gordon mention it somewhere?
If he even requested a list, it should be denied. And he should be spied upon for info on why he wants that list.
Yeah, I have often believed he is a traitor.

(10,072 posts)I thought it was strange that everyone thought it was the blackmail of Ukraine that was the complaint. That has been in the news for months. The added tidbit of Trump withholding money the congress has already distributed was just a cherry on top.
But when I first heard about the whistle blower, I thought....selling Americas secrets for fun and profit.
That is what Traitor Trump is doing. Making profit off of our nations biggest secrets. He's a psychopath and if it is good for him he does it.

(58,785 posts)the explosion of media attention to their fake accusations about Biden, something they always intended to hit big time anyway. And since Trump's attempt to extort didn't go anywhere, that limited the sensationalism of the story as far as the media were concerned, even if legally he'd committed at least 3 serious crimes.
Meanwhile, if the whistleblower complaint were actually about something far more shocking and dangerous, even treasonous?

(26,080 posts)Pelosi has the goods on Trump and is able to use it against him and the Republicans that are protecting him in the House and Senate.
That means she will likely have to hold off until after the Republicans hold their convention to officially endorse Trump at which point if she has a major bombshell of evidence that she releases it and impeaches him in the House.
That in turn will force all of the Republicans to divert a significant amount of resources at damage control for their backing him and it reduces the chances of their succeeding due to the upcoming elections.
Laura PourMeADrink
(42,770 posts)the "goods on him or GOP" and is waiting it might be something we could hope for. Hard to deduce that tho...that others wouldn't know about it too and hint that something was big on the horizon. And given her history of being Impeachment averse and her lukewarm support to the idea now it seems extremely unlikely it will happen as long as she is speaker.

Pelosi thinks doing anything against Trump will energize his base for the election. Therefore, Trump will be allowed to get away with whatever he wants.

Like you pointed out, even after Trump is gone, the stain he is making will linger, potential spies will have no confidence that American voters won't install another person like Trump as president.

(53,342 posts)Trump has privately said that foreign spies can damage relations with their host countries and undermine his personal relationships with their leaders, the sources said. The President "believes we shouldn't be doing that to each other," one former Trump administration official told CNN.
In addition to his fear such foreign intelligence sources will damage his relationship with foreign leaders, Trump has expressed doubts about the credibility of the information they provide. Another former senior intelligence official told CNN that Trump "believes they're people who are selling out their country."
Even in public, Trump has looked down on these foreign assets, as they are known in the intelligence community. Responding to reports that the CIA recruited Kim Jong Un's brother as a spy, Trump said he "wouldn't let that happen under my auspices."

(5,106 posts)Benedict Arnold served with distinction and was responsible for some major victories in the early years of the Revolution, This was why Washington trusted him so completely that his treachery was such a blow. Feeling that the Continental Congress passed him over for promotion and gave others some of the credit he was due, Arnold's treason was not just about money, and, unlike Trump, he didn't avoid service. Unfortunately, Trump's name will probably never live in the infamy it deserves.

(4,004 posts)I dont buy the Ukraine story to be the central issue. The Ukraine debacle may be one part, but the larger, and in my opinion, actual issue, revolved around the why Soviet spy had to be extracted to the U.S. in the first place.
I believe that the Goof In Chief compromised our national intelligence (a phrase which by itself is an oxymoron) by divulging the names of our assets in Russia and elsewhere.
Between my hypothetical conjectures, I can understand why a true American would blow the whistle. I think were being duped as to the real issue, regardless of how bad of a situation King Donald put himself in regarding the Ukraine.
How long must we wait to save our country? Will it be too little, too late?

(1,584 posts)hard cold facts. For decades our enemies have been analyzing and searching for the weakest spots in our system of government while inserting their financial tentacles wherever possible into our politics. They are aware that democracies, and indeed capitalism, can devour themselves. And because we are a nation of laws, if you control the legal system through outright corruption you are well on the way to instituting a fascist dictatorship. In tRump, Putin groomed and instituted the perfect tool. Every day we see this unfolding before our eyes to the extent where there are even some who have replaced their initial outrage with a shrug, not realizing that the prime traitor has progressed to a point where he has no alternative but to be re-elected. That is the only way he can keep himself out of jail while holding unto his ill gotten gains and continue to cement his evil power. Expect from that prime traitor the worst he can do to the nation while his propaganda says the exact opposite. Right now he has the power to do just that. And that is only some of what we are up against. It is a fight we cannot afford to lose.
Buckeyeblue
(5,491 posts)Maybe not impeachment--although I don't see how anyone in Congress could give him a free pass on disclosing spies and expect to get reelected. I think even the southerners would stay home before they'd vote for that.

(32,356 posts)... the guy had already been extracted from Moscow 2 years earlier. He and his family were already safely in the US under another identity, and Chump doesn't know who or where he is.
The Whistleblower probably knew about the Russian spy, but there's nothing to tell us that he/she "blew the whistle" on Chump over that story. There's a very good chance that it was something completely different. Something that none of us know about yet - and we may never know it.
Chump cannot give Putin the new ID for the extracted Russian spy, because he doesn't know it. The intelligence officers won't give it to him either.

Saudi dissidents known by the US Intel agencies were leaked by Jared to MBS, also these machinations allowed MBS to seize power.

Traitorous all around.
