Trumps only real hope is Impeachment Proceedings?

Trump may have figured that impeachment proceedings are what he needs to rally his base. If the Lewandowsky fiasco last week was a preview, he may be emboldened on that track. Could this Biden/Ukraine stir up be a placed story to finally force formal impeachment hearings, thereby assuring Trump a rally of the troops and the chance to beat impeachment through his stonewalling and judged by the walking dead republican senators?
