to the people who believe that about Trump?
Who really is the enemy? People who don't condone white supremacy? People who support gay rights?
People who support free choice? People who have education?
I don't get it.

(14,490 posts)Rethugs like to think they're "sticking it to those libs" or "owning the libs" when in reality they are the ones being screwed over and owned. Typical of brainwashed cults.
Republicans own no liberals in my world.
We are the Party of solidarity, we deal in reality and we are fiercely independent from the Rethug's billionaire masters.

(11,736 posts)There isn't really a rational basis for some people. Liberals have been painted as an embodiment of anything that people on the other side fear or hate. It isn't only that we "don't condone White Supremacy" it is that we are going to oppress White people and enslave them as revenge (or White guilt for the "race traitors) for the many injustices that have been "made up". It isn't that we "support gay rights" it is that we are going to make it so that all children are turned gay and that heterosexuals are going to have to sneak around and hide from the pink fascists to avoid internment for "being normal". It isn't "choice" it is that we want to murder all babies including as they are being born or just after, in the most heinous ways. Finally, "education" is "brainwashing" to people who follow Trump and conservatives in general. We lord our educations over them and think we know better with our, "scientific method" and we defy the will of God by questioning Him with our arrogant ideas about humanities and art.
People gravitate to a conservative mindset when they desire certainty and strength rather than curiosity and self-determination. They talk about freedom, but they appear only to mean the freedom to do things their way and not question. People who support Trump think that he is defending them against changes that have been and are being foisted upon them, like the idea that women are equal, that minorities have valid and different life experiences, that you can search for the facts and evidence through the scientific method, but can never be 100% sure of things because knowledge is contextual (postmodernism). Trump supporters just want to be at peace knowing that if they are White, they are still at the top of the social pecking order, if they are men, they have more power than women, and if they are Christian, they are the only true religion. While they continue to need those things, they will be susceptible to any con man who can put together the words they want to hear and they will continue to fear and hate us.

(15,805 posts)Evidently they have organisms when Trump does something that they think makes Dems look foolish, stupid, or misspeak. My bro is ecstatic when Foxnews spend an entire 24 hour news cycle "sticking it to those libs" by playing the same vidio loop of some Democrat misstating a name or date, proof positive that all Dems are "retards".
These constant little anti Dem vignettes give the rank and file Republicans a gleeful opportunity to feel as if they really are superior, and smart, and better than any Dem. They can hide their own impotence, their stunning ignorance and pretend they are normal when some hapless Dam is being mauled by Trump and his TV station.

(182,788 posts)You have to make a name for yourself quickly so making outrageous statements or charges is the easy route.
Owning the libs is fool proof. In a way it's like a reverse straw man. A talker or writer says some batshit crazy point and then claims that they influenced Libs to act a certain way. They offer a ridiculous alternative but claim the Libs will do...well what they were going to do anyway THEN it becomes a "thing" they they influenced the Libs to overreact. It usually isn't an actual policy or legislative actions it could just be one statement from one person.
It's certainly got elements of cult activities but also a card trick where the narrative just paints a picture of a trick people have seen before.
