Former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger is on trial for murder after she fatally shot Botham Shem Jean on September 6, 2018.
Guyger was off duty but still in uniform when she went into Jeans apartment at South Side Flats. She told investigators she believed she was walking into her own apartment and shot Jean believing he was an intruder.

I sure hope they find her guilty. So many things in her story don't add up, not even close.

(16,616 posts)I only heard parts, and some of this is second-hand:
The defense is arguing she was exhausted after a 13 hour shift and made an "honest mistake." (Some friggin mistake).
The prosecution said that right around the time she killed an innocent man in his own home she was texting her DPD partner arranging to have sex with him and then go out for dinner afterwards. So she couldn't have been that tired.

(12,618 posts)That will officially end whatever small, lingering amount of faith I had left in the police to police themselves (not that I had a whole lot). And I'm sure I'm far from alone in that. It will be considered an act of war against the public.

(60,010 posts)I seem to remember hearing that.
The only "accident" of being at wrong apt. door, on different floor, would be caused if she had any mood altering chemicals in her. Dunno if she was tested or not.

(3,510 posts)the results of that report have not been released publicly.
I could see that being normal procedure. Even an accused person, under investigation, has a right to privacy. (Meaning privacy from the public, not from the investigators).
But - and this is a HUGE BUT - the police were quick to release their claim that they found marijuana in Botham Jean's apartment while searching it.
So it isn't important for the public to know about what state the shooter was in, but it is important to know that some pot was found in the victim's home.

(8,747 posts)One reporter had a laptop in the gallery, when the judge said no electronic devices. The reporter's laptop started playing music at the beginning of proceedings. The judge took the laptop away, and tore into the idiot. He kept apologizing and the judge was having none of it. The judge has a very good representation. In other words, this will not be a circus.
