1 more Whale vid! Drone footage of Grey Whales and Dolphins in high speed chase

This is published by "Dana Point Whale Watching", a boat excursion company out of Southern California.

The footage follows a pod of dolphins being chased by a group of 5 or 6 Grey Whales. If you open the video on YouTube and read through the comments, one person mentions that these two species are often spotted together and work cooperatively in both hunting and for protection.

What I found so amazing is the portion that starts at the 2:00 mark. The drone flies over the whales and at first you see just two, then a 3rd and a fourth appear in the frame. Watch carefully at the 2:10 mark, as one that is well below the surface (and kind of hard to see) begins to accelerate, pumping its huge fluke. As it begins to pull away from the one near the bottom of the frame, another near the center of the frame gives chase, pumping hard and just starts to haul ass!

At the 2:25 mark a third comes into frame just as a dolphin that is hauling ass in front of them surfaces for air in the lower left. At the 2:30 mark one of them does a shallow breach right on top of a surfacing dolphin!

The drone was having a hard time keeping up, but needless to say, these animals are FAST when they want to be.

Enjoy.
