that believed his promises and him saying he'll drain the swamp and shake up Washington with a different kind of management because he'll run the country like he runs his successful business. These voters gave Trump a chance and they are now disenchanted with Trump. These are not the true deplorables. They are the 2016 Trump voters that were on the bubble and have since realized that they made a mistake by voting for Trump.

On the other hand I don't see Trump picking up many new fans/votes in 2020 because he really didn't accomplish much and contributed to a world of controversy and gridlock.

Bottom line I don't see Repugs being fired up for Nov 2020. I don't see how he can win unless - the Repugs steal the election by suppressing votes, cheating and maybe getting foreign help again through interference.

Am I on to something or am I just wishful thinking.

1. I've been saying the same. In the swing states, Trump has lost

2-5% of his 2016 voters and is not adding any new voters.

4. I don't see how he could win any new states

And he is deeply unpopular in MI, PA, Wi and Iowa. He is likely behind or even at best in OH, NC, GA. AZ and FL.
A few other states like TX, AK, and MT could be in play.
And the more pressure he feels the more bizarre his behavior will be.
And I hope to hell this is not an “obvious, logical” conclusion like HRC in 2016.
