It was the third time I contacted his office to share my views on the need to move to impeach Trump, but the first time in several weeks. I shared information with them on my earlier calls and forwarded material I had written on the subject. It was all respectful with no hint of anything that could be considered a "threat" regarding my continued support of him.

That changed yesterday morning. I told his DC office (which had a record of my earlier contacts) that I had refrained from using emotionally charged language regarding this matter in the past, but this time I felt a need to be clear. I said I was "disgusted" with the failure of Democrats in the House of Representatives to adequately defend our Constitution. I added that lack of action on impeachment was only emboldening a lawless President.

Further I said I believed Democrats were making a critical error in judgement if they simply assumed that all Democrats will turn out to vote against Trump in 2020 regardless of whether they were upset with the failure of Democrats in Congress to hold him more accountable through the impeachment process. I noted that although obviously showing up to vote out Trump was the rational response for all Democrats to make, people don't always act (or not act as the case may be) based on reason. Depression effects enthusiasm, and lack of enthusiasm saps energy away from action. Even if core Democrats all vote, they may not all have the enthusiasm needed persuade their neighbors to turn out against Trump also.

In closing, I identified myself as a Democratic Committeeman from a Town in his district and added that, although I like and respect the congressman, regrettably I was now inclined to support any credible Democratic primary opponent of his who did not attempt to cut the baby in half by supporting "investigating" this president while hedging on impeachment.

Clearly I wasn't the only call they had received along those lines. I am gratified by DelGato's statement and he once again has my full support. Democrats need to hear from their constituents on this issue.
