Probably wishful thinking: Hoping he'll Resign & Whine.

He does insist he is being "picked on" by the mean ol Democrats and the media. He could claim he "never really expected to win" the Presidency and he's a "successful businessman" who doesn't need to do that anyway and that the "fake news media" picked on him. Basically, resign and whine.

Reality is, he's MUCH too malignantly narcissistic for that. But I can dream!

1. Wouldn't we all like to see the WH staff moving his furniture into a moving van?

Eventually he will go. Not without a shitload of drama of course. At least Nixon had the decency to give a farewell speech to his staff about not hating people, which at the time seemed highly ironic to me. But at least he made an effort to appear decent.

Trump of course will go out whining poor me, so unfair, blah blah blah. But go he will.

And if Pence goes too, Pelosi will be our next POTUS!

If the only thing keeping him from indictment is the office of the president, then there's no way in hell he's going to resign.

He will never resign! And WHEN he loses the election in 2020, he will refuse to accept the results. This process will be difficult, but we will prevail.

6. I wish he'd resign in disgrace (like Nixon) but why would he give up

His Get Out of Jail Free Card? He thinks that makes him untouchable.

He knows he’d give up his pardon power among other things he can use to try to hold things at bay. So I don’t think he’d ever consider it. If anything, expect him to screech and howl louder than ever. And keep on committing crimes.

But we can dream. LOL.

Because, up to now, he has been. Barr has seen to that. As it is with many of us on DU, I've been frustrated by the methodical process in the House, but they have done everything by the book and I'm hoping that means that avenues of escape are being closed.

I wonder if anybody has thought of reporting AG Barr to the Bar Association? Wouldn't that be fun if he were dis-BARR-ed? He has certainly broken many laws.

9. Ah yes, but you see, remaining President is the only way people may eventually see his tax returns.

Your thinking assumes he favors his freedom over the illusion of his wealth. Besides, charges can always be beaten by people with money, it's the American way!

I've always thought resign and whine was a very realistic end to Trump's first term. With the way the New York case is going, I think his tax returns may see the light of day before November 2020....unless he resigns. This actually pushes it to nearly the level of a straight up electoral loss, imo.

Here are my current odds on how his first term ends:

Resign and whine - 40%
Lose to Democrat in 2020 - 45%
Win re-election in 2020 - 14%
Be removed through impeachment - 1%

13. I think tRump and his defenders are re-evaluating things every day.
Tue Sep 24, 2019, 02:59 PM

They, no doubt, are looking at statutes, regulations, rules and the Constitution trying to pick their way through the land mines. Meanwhile, tRump is a loose cannon and it is never a known quantity how bad he will make things with his impulsive and self serving behavior. So while navigating the law, they also have to deal with him.

tRump does not think or act like most of us due to his personality disorders and lack of morals. He has always managed to get by with this behavior by buying people off or just bullying. He may have met his match as he tries to bluff his way through the US Congress and the Constitution. Let us hope that they hold on, gird their loins and be ready to go toe to toe with tRump and anyone who is ready to defend him.

8. He will not resign unless he losses the election

I could see him the day after he loses turning to Pence and saying "Hey Mike would you like to be President for at least 5 minutes. I'll step down if you pardon me."
