I just got a robo call from this number (no longer in use) 1-707-354-9100 saying my social security number was no longer valid and an Arrest warrant has been issued in my name...
Should I be concerned?
Probably a scam... I POSTED THIS ON TWITTER

(12,712 posts)You would get a specially delivered legal document, (summons) or a visit from an investigator for any matters like that.
That kind of notice is common with scams. They sound like they mean something.
Ignore.

(2,061 posts)Im a Floridian and a bit sensitive to these things. I help a number of people who could easily be taken by this one. I do talk to them about it and the AARP has sent them material but they dont read it.
Some of them are one line operations. Some run multiple lines. You can toy with the one line operations but not really the multi-line ones. They will block your number so you have to call from different lines. 😁

(50,300 posts)could remember what that one was. We've gotten the SS call before, but the worse time of year for Medicare people is enrollment time. Everybody wants a piece of the action.
gratuitous
(82,849 posts)But if you want to screw with these bandits, try one of these gratuitous-tested, gratuitous-approved countermeasures:
When you hit "1" to talk to a live person, when he comes on the line, just start hitting random buttons on your phone's dialpad. It makes a really loud noise on the other end that is very annoying.
If they ask for your social security number, say "3." Then elaborate: I was one of the first ones to sign up.
Ask them for their full name. Evince skepticism that their name is really "Frank." Or deliberately mispronounce it: "What? Did you say your name was fuckhead? That's not a very good name. Did your parents really hate you or something?" Usually, they won't give you their full name. Keep asking for it, though; you'll eventually hear the satisfying "click" when they hang up.
If they're really persistent, demand (politely) to speak to their manager or supervisor. Keep asking until they hang up or put you on hold. If a "manager" actually gets on the line, go back to pushing buttons on the dialpad. Or asking for the manager's full name. Make fun of the manager's name. The madder I make them, the happier I get.
